Rant - Appreciation

As many of you know I specialize in emergency medicine. Well today I am in one of our urgent cares. It just amazes me the unappreciative nature of some people.

Most of my patients are pleasant and understanding, but some people are just so unrealistic.
1. Other than the ER, there isnt another physicians office or urgent care open today for 50 miles.
2. The average wait in our office today is only about 1-1.5 hours. Your waiting because there are people that came in before you and are to be seen first. I am averaging about 4 patient per hour.
3. The average wait in the three ER's in my area is 4 hours (I checked).
4. Its Christmas eve, and a saturday. I dont want to be working today anymore than anyone else.
5. I am missing time with my family.

So all I ask is that people understand that the wait is not in my control and that I am working as fast as I can when no one else is.

While it's unlikely I will ever need to use your facility (due to distance) I am grateful to you and all the others who make it possible to get care 24/7/365. It must be tough to help someone who acts like a Hardcore Pawn customer wanting a loan on a fake ring.

Once had a woman come in with a sprain wrist, who complained as I was with a critical patient that I should "let him die, he's old anyway". Peoples selfishness never ceases to amaze me.

The hospital I'm at currently has the best group of patients I've ever had. There are still some asses, but I really like working with them.

on the flip side. You have someone who has something wrong or a child who they think is really ill. They then sit there for hours.

your feelings are the last fucking thing on there mind.

I helped out at the pizza shop tonight. The last several times I worked there, I was rapidly, and frequently reminded how much a loathed so many of the customers. Many people are just... incredibly annoying (to be polite, since it is Christmas Eve.) But tonight, only 1 customer managed to irritate me.

Working in a hospital in a holiday sucks ass. Fortunately I only had one appy and one rectal bleeder today and got paid double time for watching football most of the day.

I pulled a double yesterday, work a single tomorrow and am on call Sunday.

Sucks, but it'll be a massive check, even for me.

I'm unappreciative because of the ridiculous amount of money I'm spending so you guys can take a long time to do nothing or next to nothing.
I should just go in with no wallet and pretend to be disoriented so you cant bill me.
