So far in this thread, it seems you've equated metrosexuals with nerds, with emo guys, and with Kip from Napoleon Dynamite. Which are they?

You are making excuses why you can't be the alpha-male type. You want to pretend that it's cool to act like a scolded runt, since that's your only option.

Tip #1 - when you have an inferiority complex, call those who don't have such a complex "insecure", as if to turn the tables on them.

A little bit of all of them.

Take the self-confidence of nerds, the emotional stability of emo guys, and the manliness of Kip, and roll it into one person. Now let that person come up with an act that he thinks will make him cool and attract women. It's metrosexuality.

I'd also say that people from any of those groups will tend to gravitate toward the metrosexual act since there's no way in hell they can pull off the "studly gentleman" act like Sean Connery or Rock Hudson (who was gay, but still a real man and not a metro poser)

I've never seen anyone fitting your description that's metrosexual.

I would say that a real man accentuates his masculinity, while a metrosexual reduces it by being unmuscular, shaving all his body hair off, making his skin smooth like a woman, and acting like he's incapable of doing rough work.

since real power in todays society is defined by money, i'd say a REAL MAN (if there is even such a thing) wouldn't have to show calused hands etc.

there is of course no way in hell i'd ever be caught dressing or acting like a metro sexual.

That is my thought as well. I am unable to think of a single individual I've encountered that exhibits all of those traits. Taking as individual traits that are exclusive to metrosexuals, 99% of men are metrosexuals. I think Sean Connery James Bond may be the only individual who is immune. But even he did very little hard work and occasionally wore tight fitting bathing suits.

Here's the strange part- my gf seems to get turned on when she sees me doing manual labor. Even though manual labor jobs make no money, there must be something instinctual that draws women to gladiators, construction workers, etc. You sure as hell won't see a woman get turned on by a guy fixing a RAID card on a server.

sounds like some things need cleared up

metro is a guy that acts stereotypical gay, but isn't. likes shopping, cares about fashion, uses lotion, actually worries about how his hair looks. Pretty much anyone that shops at Gap, Abercrombie, or Hollister.

My woman finding my repairing a PC (specifically hers) sexually exciting for some odd reason. She says she just likes to see me fix things.

I agree on the manual labor thing with women though. I suppose it is just an exhibition of base man traits. Providing/repair/working all sort of the same kind of thing.

Inferiority is a point of view.
I was only pointing out the obvious, and of course you became defensive. It's natural.
And I am not trying to outsmart you, you sound a bit paranoid.
The Alpha-Type male is no longer necessary.
Thank you for the tip.

I shop at Macy's or Robinsons-May usually. I just spent $120 for two linen shirts and a pair of Dockers just last weekend.
