Cliff notes:
Sent in 100% working TR4 motherboard, accepted by FBA (Amazon) for sale as used item
Customer buys it, receives it. 10 days later, files claim for "defective"
I think, no big deal, they just didn't like it or had issues with compatibility, I'll just get it back, test it and resell
Receive item back from Amazon
Uh oh... looks like someone smashed some pins
Complain to Amazon. 3 separate reps. They say go pound sand, it's not their fault. Customer denies damaging it. ASRock says out of warranty, $244 repair fee. Well, crap.

$250 lesson learned. Don't sell anything on Amazon some ham-fisted human can destroy then turn around and refund as "defective". And screw Amazon, I'm never selling there again and strongly encourage others not to.

P.S. Yes I did try to bend back the pins with a fine pair of tweezers and some loupes. The problem is the <redacted> somehow broke one of the pins. RIP.

Online sales is a PITA. I'm not inclined to sell things anyway cause of the hassle, but cash in person is the only way I'll go.

You may not need the broken pin. They give you spares! :^P Seriously though, while the pin may do something, it may not do anything you need. If you've got the rest in place, I'd try to run it.

Ebay and Amazon almost always side with the buyer........evidence and common sense be damned. I found that out the hard way selling brand new headphones to someone on Ebay, who used them to post an online review of them, and then claimed they were defective.

Now I only sell used computer components locally, or to people on here with established an established Heatware account.

I don't sell motherboards anymore except to people on my DC team, or as/is.

I feel it's not worthwhile selling computer parts online. Unless it's something very new it probably won't sell for much, I may as well keep it and use it for something or sell or give it away locally so at very least there is no shipping involved.

Only sell the whole item prebuilt as is....no warranty implied or given.

Locally...give a 14-day warranty......after 15 days, charge for everything.

Is it possible buyer return a broken mb that was not the op mb? Buyer is scammer?? I sold a hardly used phone online and buyer said it was defective. Told her to return it but she never did. Lucky seller here returned it but I am wondering if it’s the same mb ?

I only resell on Craigslist now - and that's typically only for very large items - like a washing machine, dishwasher, etc... If the item is worth less than $50 then I just find a way to properly dispose of it or donate it.

Screw ebay and screw amazon and screw anything else.

Yea, that's always a possibility. Good idea to record serial numbers, but I'm not sure what that gets you. I doubt the payment processors, or store fronts care about facts.

People can be dishonest dipshits. I've sold stuff on OfferUp/LetGo and have had good experiences (though there's a lot of flaky people). Cash only ftw.

Its also entirely possible they damaged them intentionally so they could return it as defective. Buyer's remorse has to pay return shipping.

I have essentially quit selling my used PC gear to strangers, this kind of thing is a big part of why. My general policy now is I offer it to friends/coworkers at 60% of recent ebay sold listings. For mobile devices I'll do like $100 under average Swappa pricing. After ebay/paypal fees, shipping, etc it doesn't end up being as big a difference as it would seem + it cuts all the risk/hassle.
