honda's got 3 hybrids, toyota can't keep up with the 'demand' of 1 (3-6month waitlists). i say they're manipulating the supply and making buyers pay MSRP+$1000. plus it looks like butt.

I wish I had four arms, so I could give four thumbs down to the increased cost of a hybrid.
I mean WTF, it costs more to repair and it's not luxury, so they charge more?
Uh, not to mention that batteries, motors, etc, etc aren't free.....Originally posted by: pray4mojo

I'm guessing people are motivated more by environmental means, not financial. So thats probably why Toyota can charge more.

my neighbors can't wait till the lease runs out on their Prius. It's slow, too small, and you really have to drive it like an old lady to get the milage they claim it gets

its cutting edge thats why. its the msot advanced hybrid out there, and probably the hardest to build. the hondas are mild hybrids, meaning their weenie electric motors cant power the car by themselves, more bolt on than new design. toyota did shove most of the prius supply to the coastal states early on to garrantee success, dunno about now.

The Prius is a cult car, sort of like the Mini, the Beetle, etc. When I had one not too long ago, I did get some waves from other Prius owners. Also, women like men that drive them.
The warranty on all the electric parts is 8 years, so no increased repair costs.
Fuel economy, however, was not very good. Only 35mpg or so.

They're so puny, yet Honda still has the most fuel efficiant car in the US. And the INsight's MPG figures are easily attainable

Yeah but it's a minature, useless, two-seater. I could take the engine from a geo metro, strap it onto a bicycle with a bubble over it, and get better mileage. They're so puny, yet Honda still has the most fuel efficiant car in the US. And the INsight's MPG figures are easily attainable
