I just can't eat microwave meals. They all suffer from at least one of these problems:

1. All of the food either tastes gross or has no taste at all.
2. The meal has your entire days worth of sodium.
3. The portion is so small you have to eat two. At that point, it's cheaper and probably healthier to eat off a fast food dollar menu.
4. The different pieces of the meal cook at different speeds, so something comes out at melt your face hot or frozen.

The Salsbury Steak one they have is pretty good, or at least it use to be. I don't really care for the others. But I know back in high school Salsbury Steak Hungry Man Dinners were the win.

the salisbury steak is still good. so is the turkey dinner one. as soon as you realize they arent real food they become much tastier. lowering your expectations helps a bunch! i eat these when they go on sale usually, not a bad deal.

i stopped eating the hungryman mexican dinners when they changed it from 2 enchiladas and 2 tamales to just 3 enchiladas. the sauce used to be decent, now its just runny red sauce with little flavor. theres a fried chicken one thats not horrible as well.

I know stuff doesn't usually look like the package or menu board, but jeez c'mon people. Unappetizing to say the least. I'd never had any of these before, but they looked good on the box.

Dude, go to walmart, Don Miguels Beef Enchilada Dinners $1.12 and they are damn good. I have 1 or 2 a week.

That may have been one of the 5 I tried. I remember cheese fries with something. Maybe when I have more time I'll try the last one in the regular oven perhaps.

Who knows maybe if I get a free coupon I might try the salisbury steak one.

clogged arteries ftw!

El Bajio? Not sure of the cost for take out v. frozen at the market but you could get like a dozen of their enchiladas and freeze a meals worth. The canned refrieds at the market are somewhat better than the frozen dinner version.

You mean $2 each, or did you actually buy 5?

Best deals are when the marie calendar ones goes on sale for $2. Those are dayum good with huge portions. Claim Jumper ones are comparable, but the cheapest I've seen them were $2.50 each, which is still a good deal.
Safeway Select makes the best enchilada entrees.

Hungry man just sounds like a pile of gross

I'll have to check out the marie ones, a month or two back I did have a Claim Jumper, was pretty good for the price.

I agree that the Marie Calendar dinners are by far the best. Especially the meat lasagna (which was recommended here a while back). I like cooking them in my oven, though, so I'm sure that helps with how it turns out.

I used to eat the boneless fried chicked every now and then , it wasnt too bad. But it is still a pile of microwaved sodium.

QFT, the OP describes pretty much every TV dinner I've ever had. That's one reason I don't eat them.

The Hungryman XXL meals are freakin' awesome (the fried chicken being the best).

WOW! Looks like they have XXL sandwiches now. I'm all over that!

That's what you get for buying over-salted dogfood. I'm surprised your wife thought that Hungry Man dinners were somehow higher in quality compared to other frozen meals.

I'll second the Boston Market recommendations.
I've had the turkey medallions, roast chicken, country fried chicken, swedish meatballs, meatloaf, and pot pies. All are very tasty, but they're definitely lunch portions only (with the exception of the pot pie which is huge). If you have one for dinner you'll be hungry in maybe 3 hours.

Well I kind of thought the same thing, that it was like the 'premium' version of the red box banquet meals. 1lb of food! 10oz of cornmeal LOL

Stouffers / Lean Cusine is the only good frozen food. Lean Cusine's chicken / noodle stuff is excellent, as well as their mac n cheese.

Common sense tells you that a pound of processed food worth eating will not cost two bucks.

RE: Our products

------------------
Dear Mr. Ape,

Thank you for your interest in Hungry-Man Mexican Style Fiesta TV dinner. We take opinions and comments very seriously and appreciate your input.

First of all, what do you expect for such a low price? Sure, we might have some illegal immigrants from around the world cooking this shit up for you but for fooks sake we have to pay them something. We just have them make a whole lot and work 60 hours a week doing it.

Second, you think thats food you are eating? Its reconstituted protiens, amino acids and flavoring with some fiber and filler added for texture. We also have to use flavorings very sparingly as they get expensive having to use real spices and all.

And lastly, we promise to keep prices low....because no matter what some disgruntled customer here or there might think on occasion, people just cant resist super cheap "food". No matter what.

Have a nice day.

Make some Meat Sauce, put into small 1 serving containers, and Freeze. Come home, boil water, cook pasta, and heat Meat sauce in Microwave. Throw some broccoli into cooking Pasta approx 1-2 minutes before it is cooked. Add shredded cheese or Parmesan on top after putting Meat Sauce on the Pasta. 10-15 minutes tops.
