Ok, this is just a rant, so I really won't be offended if nobody replies.
Man, my brother in law and sister can be so dumb with their money. They are living with my parents, they are already in debt (a large amount as well), looking for a house, have two cars and a daughter to look after, and what did they do? They went out and bought a new car!!! I can't believe how dumb that is, they claim it is for "better gas milage" but there is no way in hell they are going to be able to save the money from gas milage on the car that they just bought.
What is almost worse is they did not do any research at all, they just went out this Saturday after doing 10 mins of google and came back with a new car! My goodness, what on earth where they thinking? The car they traded in was rarely driven and I doubt this one will be either.
Again, this is just a rant, but man it just makes me mad to see such ignorance, especially when they already have what they need.

Cogman, how did they get into a lot of debt with cars being given to them, their housing is free, and they both work? Is this student loan debt? I doubt that. Was there some other crisis such as a difficult pregnancy with no insurance?

i blame your parents. they're cuddling your sibling. they should have never let them move in in the 1st place. or move in w/explicit rules on when they're moving out, and HOW they're going to spend their $. in other words treat them like a child since they seem like it

wait, what were they driving before that makes them think an SUV is getting better gas mileage, a tank?

Combination of things, my brother in law was going to school, they where living on their own for a while, they have a 32' CRT TV, from walmart, and a 42' flat screen LCD from walmart, an XBox 360, a fairly nice computer from dell, Every Sims game ever made, They had a Highspeed internet connection with satalite TV....
... They haven't always worked for my parents, considering the husband was willing to take a job for $6/hour, I don't quite see that as decent. As well, the car they bought before the SUV they had was a Mustang, just asked him, don't know what year or whatever but that was what it.Originally posted by: slsmnaz
That does not sound like a ton of debt if they make a decent salary.

Might you mean a Suzuki X-90?
That would be the one, I knew I wasn't too crazy (so I associate computer manufactures with car manufacturers, big deal ). Thanks for digging that up.
I'll admit that there are large areas of cluelessness in me, I'm a bit too nerdy to care about cars THAT much. Maybe some day I'll make a hobby of it.Originally posted by: akubi
ROFL @ SAMSUNG CAR
clueless = you
anyways, thanks for letting me rant guys (and for pointing out my car ignorance, it was worth the good laugh) I guess since there is nothing I can do about it, I can just smile and give my opinion to them when asked.

Sounds like my aunt and uncle. They did stuff like that for years. When they got divorced a few years back they were each $15K in debt.

People like that make it possible for people like us to buy cars at or below invoice. My sister-in-law married into money and has wasted more money in ten years on full price cars, cameras and laptops than I make in a year. I know how you feel.
