One of her friends was trying to get this guy to ask her out, she spent all New Year's Eve trying to tell him, "hey, I want to be asked out, ask me out, please!" but since many women won't come out and say that, she didn't get asked out cause he was an idiot.

Let me get this straight...Girl wants to be asked out. Girl wastes an entire evening dropping hints to Guy that she wants to be asked out. Guy, for whatever reason, does not ask said Girl out. Guy is therefore an idiot.

We're not going to just walk up and ask you out (well some will, but not all).

So said Girl belongs to the we're-not-going-to-make-the-first move mindset and in this case it cost her a potential date. Now she's whining to Thumper about it. If there's that much at stake, if she was willing to waste her entire New Year's Eve dropping hints, then it would have been in her best interest to come out an ask directly after her first few hints failed to generate a response. In either case, "yes" or "no," she would have her answer and she could have gotten on with her evening. As it stands, from what Grasshopper27 pasted, Girl still does not know if Guy would have said "yes" or "no" so she's still effectively at square one.

Sounds to me like Girl needs to re-evaluate her strategy.

How about you take your own advise as well. Females aren't the only one that gets nervous when asking someone out. It sounds as if your taking the burden off yourself and applying it to the guy. IMO that is really selfish. If you want to go out with a guy, take your own advise and ask.

Edit: BTW we aren't mind readers either, and most of the time females THINK that they are giving enough hints but we sure as hell don't notice it. If you want something done right, do it yourself.
