Directron shipped me an item clearly labelled on their site as a more expensive one. When I got it it was the inferior model. They wanted me to pay for their mistake.

Newegg is a great company...you have issues because you live in a remote area. Would you rather have more companies just declare LOWER 48 only, or give you the OPTION to buy from them?

It's your own fault you need a taxi to drive you around though....it's not their fault you don't have a credit card...

You should take your shit storm somewhere else. No one in their right mind would refund you for gas used making a payment. That would be like me demanding compensation for my time spent adding an item to my cart only to find out it just got OOS.

Last year I put $20,000 into newegg, this year I'm up to $10,000 already. I recall 1 problem with them that wasn't my fault and was really out of Newegg's control.

Actually it has a little to do with it.

If your item cost is higher you have to declare more for the insurance, so you're shipping costs you charge go higher.

But only if you provide insurance.

The more you know (tm)

Yep. Sent money order April 1. USPS attempted to deliver April 4. For whatever reason Newegg did not accept it that day, I will never know. But it was definitely a internal thing with newegg. So 3 days to get there from BFE as another member so put. USPS got it there in the advertised time. However for them failing to accept it on the 4th, they did accept it on the 7th. Rather early in the morning too I might add so USPS just did not sit on their behinds with it. They made effort. Far more than the egg is so far... unless Sarah and her supervisor manage to surprise me.

Anyways bottom line. Newegg had in their POSSESSION my payment on the 7th of this month. One unit should have been pulled out of inventory. Sorting though mail is not that hard even in those tiny commonly small envelopes. But no, this was a huge flat rate priority envelope. It should have been sticking out like a soar thumb saying open me. What they did with it after receiving it from the time it well after it went OOS on the 10th is beyond me. I do not work there. Maybe they got cheap labor from across the border. Whatever the case is, they had 2 full days of my payment, with the item in stock. Only to cancel well after they got the payment on the 3rd day. How hard can it be? Order XXXXXXXX on the envelope like night and day. Black ink on a white background.

I just called my CSR over at Newegg on your behalf. They're not only going to refund your money (although, unfortunately, not your gas money or shipping costs for the MO), but they're going to ship you the product.

then next time you will get a CC (or if you can't) you will learn to live with it.

should they have pulled it? yeah i think they should have. but they are doing the right thing and refunding the cost of the item etc. you are NOT due taxi fare or any of that other crap.

you don't want to take the chance of it happening again thats fine.

You know, you have the IQ of a dumb flat board. A really dumb flat board. Newegg had payment for days with the item in stock only to tell me days after they had it that it is now out of stock. And that they will refund me DAYS after they canceled the order. Or maybe you dont have an IQ problem, but a stiff head problem in which you read newegg sux then shut out the rest w/o reading it all.

while they are slow (they have gotten slower the last few years) this could have been avoided if you got a CC or such. this is NOT 100% your or Neweggs fault.

newegg is not as good as it used to be. but to be fair this is a really silly rant.
