Rape victim is coveted status - George Wills

Yes, one of the big GOP conservatives did say that.

Link

They are learning that when they say campus victimizations are ubiquitous (“micro-aggressions,” often not discernible to the untutored eye, are everywhere), and that when they make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate.

Once again, why does the GOP hate woman? Can't imagine why all the woman are now pissed off at him.

“They’d now decided — mutually, she thought — just to be friends. When he ended up falling asleep on her bed, she changed into pajamas and climbed in next to him. Soon, he was putting his arm around her and taking off her clothes. ‘I basically said, “No, I don’t want to have sex with you.” And then he said, “OK, that’s fine” and stopped. . . . And then he started again a few minutes later, taking off my panties, taking off his boxers. I just kind of laid there and didn’t do anything — I had already said no. I was just tired and wanted to go to bed. I let him finish. I pulled my panties back on and went to sleep.’”

Perhaps because according to liberals women are all retards?

Consider the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. “sexual assault.” Herewith, a Philadelphia magazine report about Swarthmore College, where in 2013 a student “was in her room with a guy with whom she’d been hooking up for three months”:

Six weeks later, the woman reported that she had been raped.

George Will used that as an example of how colleges are being too strict about sexual assault. How is that anything but sexual assault.

Something tells me that there are some women in George Will's past that would have interesting things to say.

Lets see a woman gets into bed with you and lets you undress her... :hmm:

Seems like the issue is you think women lack agency and need to have some sort of guardian protecting them at all times. Perhaps some sort of male relative?

Everybody wants the government's money, but nobody wants the government's rules. How much is this student loan debt forgiveness going to cost us?

I like how you left out "and said she didn't want to have sex with you".

I am 0% shocked at your response to this thread, btw.

It really makes you wonder how many women nehalem has raped or otherwise sexually assaulted. I have 100% confidence it's at least 1, probably more, but he'd not consider it sexual assault of course.

Conclusion after reading article:

George Will is an idiot.

A useful idiot for the GOP and misogynists everywhere; but an idiot all the same.

Nice job taking the point of the article completely out of context. idiot. it is called hyperbole. In no way is he or anyone mitigating rape or any other crime.

And THEN LATER she let him undress her.

Two separate events. Are you saying that women never ever change their minds?

Now apparently women are assumed to be consenting to sex even if they said no before and took no action to indicate they had changed their mind, simply because the man was able to undress them.

You are seriously creeping me out. From your responses here you sound like a sex offender. Again, this is not at all surprising. You must think girls are SUPER into you when they are asleep, drunk, or drugged.

Well except for the whole letting the dude undress her part.

No one who has ever actually had sex with a willing partner would think that if someone had said no to you before and then lay there motionless while you undressed them and had sex with them that such a thing implied they wanted it to happen.

From this thread, I am increasingly unsure that you've ever had sex with a willing partner.

His needs are met by his toaster; a human being, of either sex, would scare him silly.

Somehow I doubt he stripped her down whipped out his dick and plunged it into her all in the space of 15 seconds.

What if he started undressing her when they woke in the morning? What about the next night? Exactly how long is one "no" good for when the girl otherwise appears to be acting willing?

I like how laying there doing nothing to reciprocate is "acting willing", even after saying no before. There is no requirement to continue saying no over and over again to unwanted sexual advances in order for it to be sexual assault.

What the hell is wrong with you.

That actually seems to be an exaggeration of what she claims:
‘I basically said, “No, I don’t want to have sex with you.” And then he said, “OK, that’s fine” and stopped. . . . And then he started again a few minutes later, taking off my panties, taking off his boxers. I just kind of laid there and didn’t do anything

So on both accounts she is equivocating on what happens.

Probably why it took her 6 weeks to report. She had to let the memory of what happened get fuzzy and buy into feminist indoctrination.

Is it any wonder they want to violate due process and use low standards of evidence in the "trials"?

There is no requirement to continue saying no over and over again to unwanted sexual advances in order for it to be sexual assault.

What the hell is wrong with you.

Way to completely avoid the question:
What if he started undressing her when they woke in the morning? What about the next night? Exactly how long is one "no" good for when the girl otherwise appears to be acting willing?

She wasn't appearing to be "otherwise acting willing".

There's nothing more I have to say here, you've hung yourself with your own posts. You're disgusting and you appear to at least be sympathetic to sex offenders if not one yourself.

Innocent until proven guilty. I bet no real court would convict the man under the flimsy "evidence". Sex offender not found.

There's a real problem that's being missed. How do you or anyone else know that a sexual assault occurred?

Hmmm, what the OP quoted seems to be somewhat right in certain respects. He's saying people are walking around looking to be offended or victimized. He alludes to tiny instances being considered a victimization. If you look at a victim as getting more attention and supports within the community then its easy to draw the parallel to a hypochondriac. It is a touchy subject especially in a world were anything that makes someone slightly uncomfortable is an aggressive act as if everyone should walk around all smiles.

Are we going to get to the point where a man simply glancing at a woman's butt is a victimization? I think it is an interesting debate. Coloring this guy as a sexist is easier though.
