Rappelz - Free MMORPG.

Haven't seen this mentioned before. The game is relatively new. (out a few months)

It's a heftly d/l with a lengthy auto patch, however the game is quite nice and the price can't be beat.

There are items that can be bought with real cash but this is not required. Interesting business model. I hope it lasts.

Best 0 bucks I have ever spent so far.

It's not like WOW. At least in the way the player can choose skills and such. It's definitely decent and I think it's worth a play. heck it's free. Graphics are also pretty good.

I tried Space Cowboy. Pretty simple but I can see how a giant battle with 50+ players could be fun.

Nice looking game! Some of the critter models are sorta cheesy in a polygon kinda way, but the environment is nice looking all the time.

It has your regular kill stuff loot stuff put stuff on so you can kill more stuff and so on and so on.

Very nicely done IMHO. I like firing up Rappelz and playing for an hour just to look at the stuff.

That seems to be the business model for many of the newer MMOs springing up in East Asia. Apparently they actually make quite a bit of money off purchases of items. Ah, the blurring of the line between the real and the virtual...

if you spend enough real cash buying virtual stuff you might as well pay monthly fee for WOW. WOW is a better maintained game but it just cost too darn expensive to enjoy.

Free is good, I still drop into Anarchy Online from time to time, a MMORPG is a great time sink, at least its not TV.

How about some info though, Anarchy is SciFi, is Rappels wizards and swords, or what? How do you advance, and whats the grind to greatness like? Are purchased items essential?

Rappels is fantasy based.
Purchased items are not essential.
Grind to greatness? Dunno, but I just finished downloading the 1.3GB client.

They're marketing to young adolescent males, it's how the entire video game industry works... unless a woman game dev/artist slams her foot on it

I personally think it's retarded, but so far the game is not bad. A little bit clunky, but looks and runs well. Not much of a story so far but looks like it has some potential for a free game.

This game uses the same control scheme that most [if not all] "korean mmo's" use - point/click to move. No "wasd" as far as I can tell. I gotta have my WASD or no MMO for me no matter how free it is.

Nothing really new in this mmo - same point/click combat repeatedly kill mobs and badly worded quests. The graphics also look very similar to most other "korean mmo's" - they probably use the same engine and just add their own story line.

is there an archer class in the game? if it's korean and there's an archer, it's usually the most powerful(overpowered) class. pick an archer(good deal of damage).

From the looks of it there is not pure archer class but two classes have archer builds
