Rapper: Blacks 'cheered when 9-11 happened'

Has-been old-school rapper trying to drum up publicity I bet..

Knight Ridder Newspapers
Oct. 14, 2004 03:08 PM

If Osama bin Laden ever buys a rap album, he'll probably start with a CD by KRS-One.

The hip-hop anarchist has declared his solidarity with al-Qaida by asserting that he and other African-Americans "cheered when 9-11 happened," reports the New York Daily News.

The rapper, real name Kris Parker, defiled the memory of those who died in the terrorist attacks as he spouted off at a recent New Yorker Festival panel discussion.

"I say that proudly," the Boogie Down Productions founder went on, insisting that, before the attack, security guards kept Blacks out of the World Trade Center "because of the way we talk and dress.

"So when the planes hit the building, we were like, 'Mmmm - justice.' "

The atrocity of 9-11 "doesn't affect us the hip-hop community," he said. "9-11 happened to them, not us," he added, explaining that by "them" he meant "the rich ... those who are oppressing us. RCA or BMG, Universal, the radio stations."

Parker also sneered at efforts by other rappers to get young people to vote.

"Voting in a corrupt society adds more corruption," he added. "America has to commit suicide if the world is to be a better place."

edit: topic summary removed to remove trollishness.

One mans oppression is another mans rejection. I have a feeling he is confused.

When you run a company named Boogie records. It is no surprise you arent taken seriously. When you open your mouth like this it is a gurantee it will be no surprise.

I'm confused, is this an anti-black, anti-anarchist or anti-black anarchist thread?

There were probably ten thousand white guys in Montana, Idaho and the area that celebrated too, lots of anti-government militias in that area. Are you going to post there responses too?

If I see an article like that, sure.

Does it have to be an anti-group thing? How about just posting the ravings of a lunatic for all to read?
Contrary to popular liberal belief. Most people do not automatically have to group things according to race, salary, or sex.

I'm sure you are looking all the time. But wait, your "sources" only attack blacks, arabs and liberals, so it's not likely you will bump into them or post them if you do.

Like I said, if I see an article like that, I'll post it.

But wait, you'd rather chalk it up to a vast RWC than actually own up to *gasp* condemning what he says. Which leads me to believe that you agree with him.

I'll condemn him, sure. I don't know who the fck he is or how what he says is relevant to anything, but I condemn his words. So why post it, get people angry at rappers? Blacks? Why?

Now your homework assignment is to go find some asinine statement by Farwell or some backwater hick Christian public figure.

It's sad that after people get over hating Muslims they will go back to bashing black people-- their all time favorite target. Black people will always be there for conservatives to fear and loathe.

It is racist when you pick one persons opinion out of 300 million and hold it up to represent the masses. I can see if some real public figure said this it would be news, but not some no-name has been rapper.

If the criticism hadn't mentioned the person's race or, worse, generalized to "blacks" plural then it wouldn't have been an issue.

And did he do that? Doesn't look like it.

He reported what the rapper said. The OP didn't say anything about that.

Rapper: Blacks 'cheered when 9-11 happened'

That kind of incendiary don't you think? If I found some crazy white school board member in some hick town that said "I hate Black people", then I should be able to make a post "Republican politician: I hate black people"?

Ya, the thread was a troll and was racist. You can admit it now.

Not really..he's reporting what a rapper is saying. He didn't say "Black Spokesman: Black people loved 9/11"...he specifically said 'Rapper:". If you said "School Board Member:" then that would have been OK,too.

I don't know what this poster's history is or anything, but I guess you two have some sort of history together to come to such a conclusion from his post...a post where he specifically says that this rapper is probably just trying to get publicity.

Let's see, I quoted the exact title from the article, as I always do. I stated that the views would be welcomed here. They have been, as evident by Omar's statement.

I stated he was a has-been rapper trying to get publicity, same thing you said. If anything, you're the troll here calling me racist.

So, to quote cheney..."Go F*** yourself".

In that case you needed to add " " or a source around the whole title.

I don't think so. Maybe the pre-Hajj Malcolm X. I think the post-Hajj Malcolm would not be proud, and probably quite dismayed as to the current state of fundamentalist Islam.

The original article is racist and lame. I never said the OP picked the title. Just because some other source posts crap, you do not need to drag it to AT. The whole thread has no relevance, it only inspires class/race hate. Too many people around here already have a hatred for rap and blacks, why make a thread just to backup there small minded bigotry?

here is my vote to ban infohawk for repeatedly thread crapping with wrong assessments, silly allegations and other garbage....

With re. KRS-One, interesting I was just watching a thing on VH1 about the hip hop scene and its roots and he was a featured speaker....another has been trying to drum up publicity, maybe he should just go on "Surreal life" with Flava Flav.

I sense that you're tap dancing

I'm in awe that this thread has so much serious discussion. Do we really need to say anything beyond "That's one crazy bastard"?

Has no relevance to what?

The article doesn't try to tie KRS-One's feelings to all rappers or all Blacks. The OP also doesn't make that connection
