Should i get the 32GB 10000rpm sata hdd or the 120gb 7200rpm sata hdd? Is there a BIG difference going from 7200 to 10000? The computer is mainly for gaming/some photoshop. Would i notice the difference?
It should be a bit faster it really depends on how much storage you need if you are use to having only a little bit the raptor would be a nice upgrade if you needs lots go for the 120 gig. Also Raptors are 36 GB not 32.
I agree with the others who say go with the Raptor. For about $120 for the 36gb version or $230 for the 74gb version you will get a great performance gain for your buck. The 74gb version has been reported to be faster by a good margin over the 36gb units
i heard about the 74 faster than 36 too.. i also heard there's a rumour about revis 2 360gd or sumthin? anyone heard that as well? is it the second gen , same as the 740gd?
Raid 0 two of the 74's for unbelievable performance (if the rest of the system is maxed out). But at $300 each its an expensive proposition. But for a gamer its the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS where did you find them for under $300???????????
There is suppose to be a 2nd gen of the 36 GB version it should be identical to the newer 72GB ones. We have first heard they would come out in November when the 72 was released but since that there has been NO official word on them. WD also says no one will know when they come out untill they decieded to release them because they will not change any markings or anything on the drives. People have said they will release them once stores run out of stock of the older verisions but no one knows when that will be either. So don't even bother waiting many of us have since November and are getting really mad like me =)
