For what it's worth, I bought one of these drives a couple of months ago from Fry's and the rebate came back post haste Fastest rebate I've received in a long time.

Its been about 6 weeks and no rebate yet for me....

Snowice, i didn't get my rebate also, and i also did the western digital look up thing, where it tracks my rebate through serial #. The worst part about everything is that they never found a rebate submission for it. I e-mailed new-egg, and i sent them the proof and how i sent in a rebate form, and that it has been a while and the rebate expired. Then i showed them that i purchased the drive during the rebate period by my order #, and then showed them the western digital website saying how they never received my rebate. a couple days later, new egg credited my account for $25. They truly are awesome. I provided them with everything i can, and they just gave me $25 straight up. (put $25 towards my check card/cc) For those of you who hasn't received or heard aything, you guys should check it up. go here to see if your rebate is even seen. http://www.acbrebate.com/WesternDigital/

if not, then i would call newegg up, or just email them. They're really good on customer service. props to them.

Hard drive cooler is a good option on this one. For a few dollars you can buy peace of mind. One RMA on a Raid 0 system. What a hassle! Looking at Raid 0+1. That will mean 4 drive minimum. No real data redundancy since the OS drives are dinky. Looks like a 5 drive system for me.

the rebate comes in an envelope that looks like junk mail, i was in the process of
throwing it away when my curiosity got the best of me and i opened it.

The envelopes return address is: The Advertising Checking Bureau

this may be another nefarious rebate trick to cut down on people
able to cash in.

by the way my raptor died after two days, sent it back to newegg and it took
them a week and a half to send me a new one. On their rma page it says
all products are sent 2 day, however mine was sent ground. Plus I was out the $10
to send it to newegg. It took over a week and a half...

In the future if you have a problem with your drive, I highly encourage you
to contact western digital, they will send you a new drive up front, then you return
your broken drive to them.
