As has been pointed out numerous times Raptor X simply adds see-through plastic to its case which in turn makes it cost more. The performance between the Raptor 150 and Raptor X is identical.

Ok so the thing is with the Raptor 150 is just to disable the TLER, if not using it in RAID and the NCQ is enabled for both of them?

I thought for some reason there was some performance differences with the Raptor X, but if it's exactly the same with just the TLER disabled and they both have NCQ then I don't need the clear case, hehe I'd rather save a few $$$ and besides they are on a Pre-Order I don't know when the X will be ready to ship.

THANKS

Yep the 150 is the best bet, TLER should ship disabled (i think) although it's a software feature so that can be turned on/off. It may come with NCQ turned on, in which case you'll need to disable it. NCQ=BAD.

Yeah that's about it and I believe they disable TLER, but I think NCQ is enabled for both.

By the way can NCQ be disabled?

I ordered mine yesterday too. I did a re-evalution of my gaming storage requirements and it turns out 150 GB should be enough.

Nothing is different except the clear window. Odd though that WD would cut the MTBF in half with the one with the window. Tells you right there it raises reliabilty questions within WD's own research department. Plus it costs that much more? No brainer, the window version just aint worth it.

Yeah no kidding thecoolnessrune, when you have time write to them and ask them why the MTBF is cut in half with the same hdd? I'd like to hear what they have to say.

Both drives are the same.

Western Digital are just charging more money for the Raptor X because they believe there are a few guys out there who will be watching their expensive hard disk in action alot.

I have a Lian Li PC 7077 and I don't have the side window so there is no way I am going to keep an eye of the hard disk. So in my case Raptor 150 is the best option. I will use the $50 saved for future upgrades. After all there are lots of other new products to buy this year.

I have confirmed info from a local dealer that both Raptor 150 and Raptor X perform the same. Both models are identical. Raptor X has the clear case for $50 more.

If money is no problem then you can pay $50 just to feel good that you have a hard disk with a clear case but then will you be watching Raptor X in action when using your computer?
