I wasn't aware there was such a demand for certain sodas. Maybe I need to go into the rare soda business, lol.

That's exactly what this guy did:

soda finder

Check out his discontinued stuff - some of the prices are outrageous. I think his idea is good, but the prices seem pretty steep. I would think someone could do that for less, but maybe I'm wrong.

Someone could maybe design an online coop, where ATOT could input their location and the hard to find sodas that they have access to locally. This data could be uploaded to a retail website. Whenever a customer purchases a 12 pack, the members with access would be notified and then the first one to respond would be given the $ and then they would purchase and ship the soda.

Anybody?

I like this idea. What exactly do you mean by "retail" website?

Maybe it's a bad term. I guess customer interface would be a better description. You would need a distinct customer interface and a distinct member interface.

The online co-op is a good idea. You would only need a wiki-style CMS, and could use an interactive map (google w/pins?) to convey soda locations. People could request, sell (at established nominal profit in addition to retail cost and shipping), and cross trade sodas.
If enough people are interested in this, I wouldn't mind providing a domain, hosting, and putting up a site for it. It wouldn't be pretty or anything, but simple enough.

I myself just want some decent cane sugar soda. I love some of the sodas that Pepsi and Coke sell in India. They sell them in Indian grocery stores, so I do get to try them every once in a while.

Jones Soda. Pretty good stuff, though some of their flavors are odd. Also, their Cream Soda makes me think of of liquid cotton candy.

Wait, what is "dirt barqs"? Or am I not interpreting that properly? Doesn't barqs make root beer and cream soda?

I think it's a good idea. I don't know much about coding websites, so I'd probably leave that to you or anyone else who has more experience there.

I think tomorrow I will go visit a couple of stores to see which sodas I can find in my area. We have a few regonal grocery stores, and they would be the ones with the uncommon sodas plus there are a few gas stations that always have weird drinks.

Here's some of the selection at my favorite, Winco.
I don't know if they're rare or not.

Pibb Xtra
Fanta - Orange / Strawberry / Grape
Fresca Peach
Fresca Black Cherry
Diet Cherry Coke (not Splenda sweetened)
Mt Dew - Live Wire / Code Red
Diet Pepsi Cherry
Diet Pepsi Lime
Diet Pepsi Max
Cactus Cooler
7Up Plus Mixed Berry
Diet A&W Root Beer
Minute Maid Diet Passion Fruit
Minute Maid Diet Lemonade

Minute Maid apparently makes a Diet Orange Ade, and I'd really like to try it if you have some local to you.

Ok, I was bored and walked next door to Kroger and found out what they have every single variety on the main page of Soda Finder except for 3 (Hires, the Polar Ice stuff, and Manzanita Sol). If I was a soda drinker, i guess I would feel lucky to have such a great outlet for the crap.

edit: oh, and Dr. Denali, lol

Wow, that's quite a selection. So you have the Barq's red cream soda and diet red cream soda? What about the diet code red?

Hmm, you could contribute quite a bit to the co-op if Crono sets it up.

I bought a 2 litre bottle of Fanta Blue Raspberry this evening.

I miss Barq's Cream Soda.

Caffeine free Dr. Pepper (not diet). There's a place to order it online but shipping is soo expensive. If anyone knows where to get it in the SF Bay Area let me know.

Mmm, birch beer. Growing up in Phila. we had it all the time. Now that I live in Atl. it's impossible to find. I have resorted to having my relatives bring loads of 2 liter bottles down when they visit.

Birch Beer is really hard to find in the South East at least.

Birch Beer on "tap" (soda fountain) is the best!

The World of Coke does have it though but no where locally seems to carry it for some reason.

I didn't even know this existed. If it tastes closer to regular than Diet does, I'll have to hit it.

No more two liters in Oregon though, only cans. Bastards!

Barq's red cream soda is popular here in UT. You can find it at any grocery store or gas station.

I really liked Mountain Dew Monsoon but alas, the version I taste tested for pine-cone research never hit the store shelves. Didn't care much for code red.

Hey, is this info you posted still true? Does that Kroger still carry all but 3 of the sodas listed on the main page of Soda Finder?

This could have gone to PM but yours seem to be disabled, so I'm bumping this in hopes that you'll see it.

Since moving from PA to Southern VA, I can't find Vernors Ginger Ale or Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer.

12 years ago, I was in Mexico and had an apple soda that I think was called Manzana Lift. Whatever it was, it was tasty. I've never seen it in the States.

Elderflower presse. I used to get it at Nugget Markets in the Sacramento area. Nowhere around Seattle sells it though.

Red soda made with cane sugar only.

Cheerwine is the BEST coke there is. To this day I have no idea why it's so hard to find. They could overtake all the other cokes in a heartbeat.

It's a cola, coke is a brand.
