I have a system from Dell - P3/450 (XPS-T450), I don't know what MB is it.

Can I just unplug the 450 and plug in this thing?

Please do reply.

benchmarq - What voltage are you running at????? Thanks for probe screen shots, how about one of the voltage?

No P3V4X users out there? I'm curious.

I can't verify anything about the P3B or P2B-F, but it does seem to work nicely with a P2B-LS with an Asus converter. Didn't work with the bundled adapter. Using the latest beta BIOS.

nikster: I could be wrong, and am very lazy, but the se440bx was made by intel, and did not support any bus speeds other than 66, 75 83 & 100. Intel is bad ppl. check to be sure, but that's what I thought

did anybody get this CPU yet? what's the stepping? how far were you able to overclock it?

so far this all seems like a speculation to me, it sounds nice and i don't doubt the thing exists but i just want some reassurance.

e5173,

If it didn't work with the bundled adapter, what adapter did you use? I have an Asus P2B and I'm looking to upgrade...

benchmarq: I was just wondering if you could post your Sandra memory benchmark scores. I just want to see what scores you get running at that high speed.

wfn:

the thing exists believe me...I got it two weeks ago...
the stepping is cC0
I am not going to overclock it at all coz it's stupid to risk a cpu for mere 100mhz...

Hi All,
I'm jumping into this thread a little late but I was wondering if this deal is still available and what the actual price is (I read $189 and $199, w/ or w/o fan and slocket). Also, what brand of fan/heat sink comes with it (or not if it's OEM)? Thanks.

Whizbang,

I'm using an Asus S370-DL. While this is what worked for me, your experiences may differ depending on board revision, etc. Good luck

Got one of the PIII 900 yesterday. Posted at 9x115mhz (1035mhz) at stock voltage 1.70 right out of the box. Running on a BF6 with Micron 133 ran. Tried at 120mhz with voltage at 1.75 but would not post. I will burn it in for awhile at stock speeds then post the results over at overclocker.com. Wintune was CPU 3061 and floating point 1210 (at 1035mhz).

This is the fan they sent me.

The cpu was listed as 1 to 2 weeks when I ordered, but was shipped the next day after placing the order.

If you go through ebates, you can get 3% more off through them.

For those wondering if you can use this with a asus p3b-f, I did a search on deja. It appears it will work fine with the 1006 bios, but with an error message on bootup. Unidentified cpu. With a beta bios 1007 the error message goes away.

Here is the link to the search I did. Deja google search

I think I will wait a bit longer before my last cpu upgrade for this board.

Edit: Be sure to check on the revison of the board you have as well. The early ones don't do coppermines.

Placed order sunday and got it this morning. Now it runs rock solid at 1008MHz (112FSB) with both Win98 and Win2K. I am gonna try 124FSB now. BTW, mobo is BH6, it rocks!!!

For about the same price, you can get an AMD Duron 650MHz ($55 shipped, check Pricewatch.com) and an Iwill KK266 mobo ($130 shipped from Newegg.com). Then you can overclock this baby easily to 1GHz or even up to 1125. This AMD combo will kick the P3 900 combo butt, plus you're getting the best KT133A mobo out there and the ability to upgrade to just about any AMD CPU in the near future.

This is just my opinion so no flames from Intel fans, please. I am still personally using the P3 550E oc'd to 825 and it's plenty fast. Bought so many stuff since I've been on this forum that I can't afford to buy anything else, for now...

Garyl99-

Which version BH6 do you have? 1.0 or 1.1?

I have a 1.0 and I'm wondering whether this CPU would work.

Thanks,

Jason

JasonG:
I am using BH6 v1.0. But it doesn't allow me to hit 124FSB. Maybe I need to grab a new video card( Most probably you will have to update your BIOS. The most recent one for BH6 1.0 is SS. I hope Abit will keep updating BH6 1.0 BIOS so that I may try anywhere between 112FSB and 124FSB with a newer BIOS. Right now I end up running 1008MHz. At least it's worth the money spent, isn't it?
