Kind of surprised. But not all too much. Wind Waker on GameCube still going for $35-40+? Nice.
Now if I can find someone who wants to trade a PS3 game/s for it.

I still have my Neo Geo console along with all the games I have for it. I assume that stuff has to be rare with how short-lived and little attention that system got.

Parasite Eve (I-II)
Legend of Dragoon
Vagrant Story
FF VII
Metal Gear Solid
Syphon Filter (I-III)

All of them original black labels (not the greatest hits crap).

Dragon Warrior for NES. Not super rare like the next 3, but still one of the best games of all time.

So rare that it was given away with every $20 nintendo power subscription for a time (actually, that was to save the cartridges from ET fate)

I'm pretty much zeroing in on a full RPG collection (CIB) for every system from NES/SMS to PS3. Then starting on the long road to complete NES/SNES complete in box complete NA retail/licensed collection.

Almost done with the 30 so black label NES CIB games... anyone have a CIB Donkey Kong Jr Math for sale? :awe:

For SNES I have Earthbound, CT, FFIII, FFII, SoM, Lufia, LTTP, Super Metroid, etc, etc, etc, all mint complete in box. All complete black label Working Designs and Square games on SNES, Sega CD, Saturn, PS1, etc.

Today I just picked up Final Fantasy, Crisis Core FF7, Growlanser, Disgaea 2, for PSP, along with Tales of Symphonia and Phantom Brave for Wii and White Knight Chronicles Intl for PS3.

Saw a Final Fantasy Tactics for PSP complete for $6 but it just HAD to be a red greatest hits, sigh.

More modern I just started on 3DS with Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus new for $15, Tales of the Abyss, Kingdom Hearts, etc

I've pretty much learned to pre-order and buy anything RPG ASAP as it comes out, because the trend is that RPGs always command the ridiculous prices on Ebay after they are out of print or sold out of special editions or once they become retro. The most expensive, rarest, and most sought after games are RPGs (Earthbound, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Skies of Arcadia, Suikoden II, to name a few on multiple systems).

So while I'm not even really caring for 3DS or much modern stuff, I'd rather buy them new for $39 and get the preorder cds and art books now instead of paying $100+ on ebay later when I get around to it.

And for me it's not even the value, I just happened to be genuinely infatuated with RPGs, always have been since a child/teen before retro gaming/collecting/JRPGs became madly popular. Starting on Dragon Warrior then Final Fantasy Mystiq Quest, then by highschool Final Fantasy II (IV) ruined me for life and made it impossible to enjoy other genres ever again. It was Final Fantasy II (IV) that cemented the RPG genre with me for life.

Its pretty easy to justify. They are worth what they are worth, its the same thing as buying gold. I see it as not wasting money but just changing forms of currency. At the minimum they aren't ever going back down in value, but some go up as well, and at best I find deals in the wild (like complete Tales of Destiny for $5 [$70+]) Hell if I was out of work I could sell a game or two on ebay here and there and live comfortably for a couple years just on my game collection :awe: Well that's the financial justification, truth is I just enjoy and play retro games and have no intention of reselling now or later, but it's nice to know the thousands I have wrapped up in retro collecting is at the least not a bad financial decision.

Kinda pisses me off that everyone else in the world started doing it at the same time I started, making it extremely hard to find things sometimes... grrr maybe the bad economy will make some give up and sell their collections off at a loss

I have Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis. There's still a few copies floating around but they're starting to get expensive.

Valkeryia Chronicles for the PS3 is also getting rare. I searched awhile to find a copy.

And lastly, Grim Fandango. Wish I had kept the box, because complete copies are going for $70-$100 on eBay.

Ultima Online beta cd - Still has some intrinsic value to it
-
And I still have the CD's of all my games I bought since 1990's...I'm sure many of those are rare now, but not valuable at all.

Well, in addition to the game I mentioned 2 years ago, I also have an Original MOO2 disc. Amazingly the Win95 version of the game still runs. Quite well in fact.

Also got an original Doom CD, Duke 3D, original edition of Baldurs Gate on 5 CD's. And some other crap. First edition of Diablo I think.

Not many.

I'm not an "after the fact" collector, that is to say, I don't go buying older/rare games just to own. I buy games I want to play and then keep them in the best condition I can.

Nothing extraordinary, very little over $100 or so, but at least they're all complete in near-mint condition:

Grim Fandango
Fields of Glory
Falcon 3.0
Master of Orion
Civilization II
Nights: Into Dreams (with 3D controller) (Unopened)
Skies of Arcadia
Suikoden II
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Dreamcast)
Street Fighter Third Strike (Dreamcast)
Albert Odyssey

Not sure I own anything rare??? I sold off my SNES collection...except I still have BOF around 18 years ago, and even then was getting better than new prices.)

Same as Exdeath above, FFII was what pushed me into loving JRPGS.

I still own a few odd and end though:

Nocturne (PS2)
Alice (PC) box with the dagger

A ton of old mint condition PC games really, no idea if any are worth anything.

A bunch of PS2/PSX/DC/Wii/GC (Xenoblade Chronicles, Steelbook Metroid Trilogy, Zelda OoT Master, Skies of Arcadia, etc)

If we step outside of the 'video' game realm - I have a signed #1 off the run Funhouse pinball machine which is probably the rarest thing I own.

just thought of a couple more.

Warcraft 3 beta
Halo 2 that MS sent out with the new copy protection on the disc, it's not labeled and has a generic green case.

i also own a killer instinct 2 arcade cabinet that is in pretty good condition, with killer instinct 1 and 2 JAMMA boards. i don't know how many of these are around anymore.

Probably River City Ransom for NES, and NHLPA (92) for PC which includes the 1991-92 NHL season stats book.
