Raspberry Pi 2 vs Odroid-C1

Hey I didn't know if the SFF forum was the best place to ask but I have been intrigued by these little bastard ARM systems lately. They don't replace good Wintel systems but they're not meant to. Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone might have experience, perhaps own both and share some insight. The C1 hardware-wise looks hands down awesome but the RPi2 has better availability (can't just snag the C1 off Amazon) and support. I have also read about the RPi2 handling differeing framerates over HDMI better. Is that just FUD?

For an openelec box the RPi2 is better as it is officially supported. Someone is building openelec for the various odroids and I have no problems but it is a few revisions behind.

I do notice issues with some framerates(something .97 I recall) on the odroid-c1 but the RPi2 plays the same content just fine.

The Odroid-c1 has gigabit ethernet and if you want faster network is a must as the RPi2 still uses 10/100 hanging off of usb.

Currently I have 8 odroid-c1's(setup a flink cluster originially) and 2 RPi2's

Thank you! I'll lean back into the RPi2 corner I am going to play with it initially and demonstrate its capabilities as a tool for inexpensive remote administration for our "cheap bastard" clientele and then yes eventually it will end up a slave to my Plex server

Yeah that gigabit is attractive. I know eventually it will come to the RPi but thankfully 10/100 is still plenty for most things.

Unless you have a strong reason to use Plex, you could simply do a simple file share and XBMC interface for a much easier point of access.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you should sell the Odroid short because of all the RPi2 hype. I have personally found that the RPi2 to be sub-standard to the Odroid in almost everything other than the community support.

Just get anywhere close to the speeds of the Odroid you have to over clock the RPi2 and it still is below par. And then you also have to look at the 1GB memory on the RPi2 to the Odroid's 2GB.
