Any criticism is welcome. Im almost tempted to go to intel after seeing my friends e6600 get a 5.9 in vista and mine only got a 5.5. I havent been keeping up with all the new cpu's lately because i have been working hard all year. I would like you guys to check out my info and let me know what i should do to make my current pc faster or what you think i should upgrade

AMD 5400+ @ 3.15
Geforce 8800GTS (8800GTX arriving in 2 days)
2 gigs of G-Skill memory (4 gigs total in 2 days)

Vista Performance results.
CPU 5.5 (i wish it would be higher)
RAM 5.9
GFX 5.9
Gaming GFX 5.9
Hard drive 5.3 (only getting a raptor would improve this?)

My personal opinion is that you have a very good computer. I would not pay much attention to Vista?s ratings on hardware they don?t mean much at all. Your CPU is not far from a e6600 at stock settings. You will never be able to OC your chip like you could if you got a 6600 but at this point it doesn't matter. Personally I don?t even know why you are considering an upgrade to C2D.

What kind of motherboard are you using?

if you're running crysis on high settings then you are almost certainly gpu limited right now. You still have a long time to go before you see a lot of games that will bring that cpu to its knees, especially at 3.15. You might up the htt to 4 instead of 3, but otherwise you're looking good.

You will not have problems running Crysis. I don't think you will be GPU limited at all. Besides when the game comes out if you feel like you need to upgrade your GPU then you can. However the 8800's are the fastest GPUs you can buy so DO NOT worry about it being underpowerd (Even the 320MB GTS).

Im already playing crysis it doesnt like shadows too well (8800gts 640) so i upgraded to the $609 8800gtx EVGA http://www.newegg.com/Product/...p?Item=N82E16814130079
the game doesnt need alot more tweaks and find tuning... its also a buggy version of dx9 so i guess i cant judge it till the new dx10 demo comes out

@ bryanw1995 hmmm... if i up the htt to 4 it will be 260x4=1040 i was told never to go over 1000ht, will that hurt it?

On your hard drive. You do not need a raptor for a higher score. I get a 5.8 for my 3200AAKS Western Digital drive that I bought on Newegg for $75. (Shipping was free) A Seagate Barracuda Perpendicular drive will get you the same score as mine.

BTW, you have a kick ass computer. My brother has a E6850 C2D that is stock clocked at 3.0 and it gets a 5.7. A new C2D is not going to give you that much a performance boost over what you currently have t warrant the expense of upgrading to a Intel platform.

PC is fine. If you have an itch to upgrade, then wait another year before engaging P35/45nm Quad. A good chip may take you to 4.0GHz on air.

Its pretty near stock spec so you should get away with it. It probably won't change your scores much but it never hurts to try. Don't forget to run a good stability test on it though.

Why is mine so low on the hard drive.

You haven't told us what your hard drive is yet.

2 gigs of G-Skill memory

Depending on which version of the memory you are running, you may be able to tighten the memory latency to 4-4-3-5 @ DDR800 (or 4-4-4-5). Which should give you a couple of percent.

You may need to bump the voltage up to 2.1V (you haven't said what it's currently running at). Again stability test it.

When the extra ram comes you may need to change the command rate from 1T to 2T. If you are fiddling with the ram I would do it with 2 sticks first before trying all 4.

I take it that you can't clock your CPU any higher and stay stable?
You could always lower the multiplier and try running at a higher HTT (base)speed and see if it gives you a better score.

However, at the minute the setup is pretty sweet, and an X2, 4GB ram and a GTX should keep you going well into vista and 2008 games.

There are lots of better benchies out there than Vista Performance

Like they say, "You can't take it with you".

Go get the Intel your itching for. Grab a Q6600 and set it at 3ghz.
You can sell your current mobo/cpu/ddr and slip that 8800 into your new Quad .

The Abit IP35-E is a great board at a great price.
