If you're not overclocking, ditch the aftermarket cooler and use the money saved to get the biggest SSD you can afford.

If you don't mind then get a WD Black or some Hitachi drive instead of that Seagate, I have and had multiple Barracudas, that's why saying.

Seagate Barracudas are fine, especially the 1TB. They are only having a bad showing right now with the 3TB HDD for some reason (although I have one and it has been 100%) Personally, I just pick whichever is cheaper... Seagate, WD, Hitachi, Toshiba.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I've been around data centers for long enough to know that all brands of drives fail. Don't even get me started on the DAILY WD RE4 1TB failures I've suffered through. Get the least expensive drive and spend the savings on backups.

Thank you very much for posting this, it's very helpful. You definitely need an SSD due to the productivity apps that you're running, doing without is unbearable. However, you're at INR 46545 right now, so getting an SSD would require making some cuts elsewhere.

Here's what I would do:

Swap case to Antec ASK-4000B-U3 INR 2300
Swap CPU to Intel Core i3 4150 INR 7700
Add Transcend SSD340 128GB INR 4400

Downgrading the CPU will reduce your performance in chess simulations, but I think it's worth it to not be really bogged down whenever you fire up CS 6.

Well I really love to get SSD but it is my least priority since i have to get monitor also. I thought my current one will do but we have decided to upgrade it too... So including monitor i don't want my budget to run over INR 50000

antec only have 1 cooler fan

what about this Actec X1-T at INR 2867?

i really don't want to downgrade my processor ...may be i should change my motherboard to ASRock H81 Pro BTC ATX LGA1150 Motherboard it will help me save around INR 1900

so with both products i can save around INR 3400/- and with additional INR 5000 I can get good monitor...

What monitor are you currently using? Why have you decided a new monitor is necessary?

Well it is 2006 15 inch crt monitor... So i guess it can max run 1024x768 which is not hd quality ...if i am taking so much pain for gaming and apps at least i should get a monitor which can handle hd performance.

Am i right to assume that it will not run hd graphics??

To be honest, your productivity apps will absolutely crawl without an SSD, making the CPU speed fairly useless for them and greatly lowering your productivity (i.e. you will spend a lot of time waiting for the app to respond during the interactive process). So I would consider the SSD to be mandatory.

You don't need a massive cooling system for this machine because the CPU and GPU are both quite power efficient. However, there's also nothing wrong with the case you linked if you like the look better and are OK with going up in budget.

That's a bare-bones board, but it's a good pick because that's exactly what you're looking for with these budget constraints.

Yes, you definitely need a new monitor if you're running at 15" CRT. Check out the BenQ GW2255 for Rs. 7200.

Does SSD only improve boot time or it will have improvements while using the apps and doing multi tasking work? How much performance i can expect from it? If i say i will be using 2 hours productive apps every day how much time i can expect to save?

If i am able to sale my old pc then i can manage SSD too...

So if i am using 128 GB SSD and 1TB hard disk. Can i install all apps in SSD (will it be enough?) and use 1TB for backup?

What is bare-bones board? It don't have usb 3 header but have at rear so i can use USB 3 support drivers with ease?

yes, all motherboards with PCIe support all PCIe graphics cards, in a nutshell

Boot time is one of the smallest benefits of getting an SSD. The real benefit is that it makes working inside applications much faster by eliminating all the little I/O pauses. For example, right now if you pay attention when you use your computer, you'll notice little pauses every time you launch a new program, switch open a dialog that you haven't used yet, load up a new file, etc. With an SSD, all those pauses are gone.

Basically, once you've used one, you'll never understood why you suffered without one for so long.

You won't be able to install all your games on a 128GB SSD, but you should be able to fit all your productivity apps on there along with the OS of course.

"Bare-bones" is an expression which means "having only the essentials". So, what I meant was that the H81 Pro BTC doesn't have any features beyond what is required.
