You will be able to play new games like Bf2 without any problems.
2 gigs for Bf2 makes the game load quicker and you experience a smoother game.
I just got 1 gig stick yesterday and I noticed the difference.

Just a quick question:

This computer will be used for digital content creation and gaming. So should I have gone with a 1GB (2x 512MB) Dual Channel Kit and upgraded the video card? I've already told people that I can upgrade the video card later on, as well as the CPU to an Athlon 64 X2 (when they become cheaper).

Well if there is something terribly wrong then you can still return it.

What kind of digital content? For gaming it should be fine and for about everything else I believe it will be fine.
No keep the 2 gig memory,it's like they say the more memory the better. It's like asking do you want a 1 keg of a 2 kegs of beer. We want more beer! Plus more memory isn't going to give you a hang over and you end up waking up next to a toothless donkey named fred.

If you're doing heavy gaming, I would have gone with a better video card and only 1GB of RAM.

Any opinions on the Barracudas? They seem pretty economical but If I remember correctly Tom's says they're not that great.. but then again Tom's says lots of things.

I would have avoided the Liteon DVD-ROM I got one ebcause the were black and cheap and thought to myself It just a ROM drive so why spend extra money since they all have to be equal.. I could no have been more wrong. I Have a Pioneer 16X DVD rom drive from 99-00 and its still working for the person I gave it to. On the other hand nothing but problems with my liteon and tha started 3-4 months after i got it. It has serious trouble detecting discs and when it does trnasfer is horrible, I was trying to rescue a a scrached DVD on my DVD burner so I had to Install BF2 off of the Liteon. After trying twice i got it to reconize BF2 and it took 12 hours to install.
