THus far I am extemely pleased with the build.

I agree with howard. You could have gotten a nice AM2 system that would last you and no DFI crap or TT crap. Man I hope that psu doesn't die on you. And that monitor isn't the best out there. Well I guess it's your loss.

I don't think DFI qualifies as "crap"

Hehe, you have no idea purduery. I spent 7 days with a DFI Lanparty Xpert that would crash, give me bsod's, would overvolt my components (no it wasn't PSU, i'm using the same one now and it's fine), etc. It was a very crappy mobo and if you go to dfi-street.com you will see the tons and tons of people that have problems with theese mobos. I would never buy one ever again. I am quite happy with my Asus A8n32-sli Deluxe thankyouverymuch.

because it's dual core and oc's like no other. there cherry picked X2's basically they are very stable and can be overclocked very high.

lol ive seen that exact sentence on MANY threads on AT...haha...but its true. opterons are pretty great, though a bit higher in price than the X2s...

my TT psu from last year went bad in 3 months and was the loudest thing in my case. never went TT for psu's again. also owned a dfi lanparty ultra d for about 2 months. BSOD's galore. crashes in benchmarks and games. loud chipset fan. dfi = second tier motherboard company that doesn't have the resources to make their motherboards compatible with all parts (value ram, old seasonic psu's, other misc parts). giving DFI a try was a mistake. went back to asus and its great.

w00t, link to where amd says opterons are cherry picked x2's. thanks

blah, blah, blah.

You know the OP got the ultra-d right? Not the expert?

Anyway, seems OP got it running just fine

I'd subtract two points for the Tt psu though.

other than that,

I did make a thread before i built my rig -----> http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1854995&enterthread=y

for a buget gaming rig i dought you could do much better. the opty overclocks equivalent to an fx-60 or whatever, and the psu was 10 bucks after rebate. The dfi board will overclock well past any asus p.o.s.

yeah i could have got an am2...but that would have severely raised the buget, i still think this is the best bang for the buck build.

ahhh...

Well, maybe to him asus is a pos, just like to you dfi is a pos. He may have had an equally unsatisfying experience with asus as you apparently had with dfi.

Nice PC OP!

You should be very proud of it And don't bother listening to all the Nay-Sayers... an opinion is an opinion and that is IT!! (Louis and Crescent)
(I have seen loads of threads on how the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe has numerous problems as well...)

Some people just don't know how to compliment.

Remember, on AT forums take everything said with a grain of salt... or maybe a whole boatload with some people!!

Nice system. The only thing I would have changed is the PSU since that system is fairly high end. But it doesn't matter what brand you go with you can get a defective unit. I ain't saying TT is a band brand as I love their cases more than anyones. I just prefer Enermax,Fortron,Antec, ect when it comes to my power. I have had the DFI Ultra-D since a month after it's launch(year and a half) and it's still running strong with zero problems.

This was my first DFI and it would be hard for me to go back to Asus,Epox,Abit, ect as I love the design and look of the DFI boards. I like how some ppl on these forums think one brand or the other is crap because they had bad luck with a single board or product. You can't say a brand sucks because one bad/defective piece of hardware.

Now if you keep getting bad stuff from a single brand then I understand.

Nice rig. As mentioned before, I'd have gone with a different PSU (Seasonic, Enermax, Fortron), but it looks good other than that. Have fun with it!

Thats very narrow minded of you. Just because you and a few other people are having problems doesnt mean DFI is bad. Many more people out there are enjoying their DFI mobos very much. And overclocking just doesnt get any better than DFI, Asus doesnt even compare. You probably used crappy parts/value ram which DFI doesnt really support or deserve. After all who would put a crappy body kit on their ferrari.

To OP good build.
