Hi all,

I'm going to be ordering the parts for my new gaming rig on Monday, I'm hoping to get a little feedback from folks even if it's just "looks good" etc.

Here's the link:
The new rig

Some comments:

I already have a new Antec Sonata case, anyone know if I should get a 120mm intake fan to go with the 120mm exhaust that comes with it?

I picked Mushkin level I 3500 memory. I'm thinking that I might do the 10% overclock somewhere down the road a bit.

I picked the retail CPU purely for the case sticker that comes with it Yeah I'm lame.

The Audigy2 is mostly to avoid the onboard sound sucking up CPU cycles, is this a sound theory? Is there a better sound card with regard to CPU usage?

That's it. I was going to wait for A64-CG and NF3-250 but I realized that I'm not a real overclocker and don't tweak every month so what the hell

Thanks everyone for any input you can provide!

Yeah I know, but I can afford it

I've been building 2nd/3rd generations for so long that I really wanted to treat myself and not cut too many corners this time.

I have an Antec AMB3700 with the same basic design as the Sonata and I have to say, I think the front mount fan isn't really necessary. With just the rear fan spinning, I can put my hand near the front vent and feel the air being pulled into the case and this doesn't seem to change much if I add a front fan.

A front fan might help to cool the hard drives and increase airflow to the agp area but if you like a quiet comp, don't bother with the front fan, imo.

Bah, it's not like I'm really going overboard and getting an FX or P4EE

Let me splurge!

Looks awesome, only thing I can think of is maybe a separate, larger hard drive for storage, but I'd try to get one of the cheap after rebates drives at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

using your logic and money. Go for a dual system!!!

Well, while I can justify an extra $200 for a top shelf CPU, I dunno if I can justify an extra $5-600 to get a duallie and all that comes with it. Besides, this is gonna be primarily a game rig and games don't lend themselves to SMP.

Look, I used to have 2 Raptors in RAID 0, and to be very honest, it is not worth it for a gaming system!!!

Stay SATA, but instead buy a large Seagate or WD drive, it'll be cheaper, and it will be much quieter/more capacity. My Raptors were rather loud when they were seeking, just to warn you.

Now, this hard drive tradeoff will leave you with more money to buy a top of the line DVD burner, such as Plexter, which make excellent drives. That NEC one that is on your wishlist is good, but rather old, and have seen many people either have problems with them, or they work ok.
