ok so ive been looking around and i think i have found good parts to build a computer. I am finding parts now and then buying around christmas(for money purposes) with hope that the prices will go down and these parts will still be good.
okay so here they are!

Motherboard: Asus P5N32-SLI Premium
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz
Case(Personal Preference, but suggestions are welcome): Asus Vento
Power Supply(i always have problems finding good ones, so please suggest a good power supply for my motherboard, one that is SLI recommended and even core 2 duo): Ultra ULT31851 X2 X-Connect 550W
DVD Drive: Panasonic SW-9587-BK 16X
RAM: 2 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800(is this compatible with my mobo?)
Graphics: Waiting for DX-10
HardDrive: Waiting for Hybrid Drives

okay there it is, im pretty much sticking with my mobo cause i like it, it has nice featuers and is optimized for vista(i like vista alot). I am open to any suggestions so please post them, they help alot, and this computer will be primarily for gaming, i know it helps to know that. And for the power supply i want one that is SLI ready even though at first i will not use SLI, and i guess around 550W is good, that shouldnt be a problem with the hardware im running.
Thanks in advance

waiting for dx10 and hybrid hdd? then why are you piecing together a system now??? if you're giong to wait an undetermined amount of months for parts to come out, just wait until then to start parting together the new system

prob a high end dx-10 card dBTelos, and if you read the description LOUISSSSS it says that i want to put it together now so when i do go to build it the parts prices will be lower, and i will still have good parts.

You need to wait for the new PC P&C 1KW with a single giant 12V rail. Only PSU that will be able to handle high-end DX10 SLi. Supposed to be $500 too, so start saving up.

8800GTX/GTS are the only known dx10 cards that will be out next month, and they will be expensive. i'd stick with a 7600GT/a midrange card for now and upgrade to a high-range dx10 card (below 8800GTX/GTS or when the prices come down).

hard drives...hybrid hds wont be out for a while, so a nice seagate 7200.10 32GB sata2 would be good for you.

You are insane if you believe that

Purdue, if these new DX10 cards (well the high-end ones) use 300W per card, no multi-rail PSU can handle that, just not enough power per rail. This is what I hear, and until something else comes along I'm sticking to it.

you can get an optical blu ray drive now... for the modest price of $700.
OP, do yourself a favor and DONT get dx10 when it first comes out. I have a couple reasons for this:
1. VERY few games will support it.
2. They will cost much more than the current crop and not add uber performance.
3. I don't like wasting money.
I would get something like an x1900xt 256mb, or if you must have the best, a 7950gx2. Plus, if you won't be budged on the dx10 issue, you can get an EVGA and step up when they do come out.
On the psu issue: for high end sli/xfire now, you need ~600w. For mid range (something like a 7900gt sli) you could get ~500w. My guess is that anything in the 700-850w range w/~54 amps on the 12v rails will do for high end sli dx10. 1kw only for dual cpus, quad sli and 10 hdds
For now, my recomendation is the 850w silverstone zeus.

He's definitely exaggerating but these cards will still be drawing a LOT of power. You're going to need something that's at least 700 watts and has 4 PCi Express power connectors, and your best choices for now will be the Enermax Galaxy 850 and the Seasonic M12.

Check out jonnyguru's review of the galaxy, then check out his review of the zeus. You'll soon find out which is superior. And don't feed me any of this "well... you shouldn't consult only one source" cr@p, jonny's reviews count as like 5 sources. Srry, that prolly came off harsh. Anywho, the zeus is prolly better than the galaxy.

Actually the zeus got: and the galaxy got:
Performance=9.5 -----------------------Performance=9
Aesthetics=7 ----------------------------Aesthetics=9
Value=9 ----------------------------Value=9
Functionality=8.5 ----------------------- Functionality=9.5
Total Score=9 ------------------------Total Score=9
JG recommended (most likely b/c of overll Quality w/ a capital Q)

why? None of them open up the psu like he does... and none of them use the sun-moon rail tester like he does either... his reviews are the most telling. (spcr isn't bad though)

LOL no you won't need PCP&C 1kw to run SLI 8800GTX, if you read around at the leaked specs, it's around the same power consumption per card as X1950XT/X1900XT 512mb. Definetely comparable (more than 7900GTX but not by a lot). QUALITY 500-600W will be more than enough unless you have 50 hard drives.
