Ratted on someone tonight

Was driving home tonight when I saw someone in front of me who was all over the road, swerving
back and forth and hitting the medium a few times. I called 911 from my cell and followed him till
the cops pulled him over. Hate doing this to someone but this guy/gal was going to get someone
or themselves hurt...

other than cops physically seeing this sort of thing, people reporting them is a the main way they get caught. nothing wrong with ratting.

in some places, it is an offense if you don't report them.

Where I live we are required to report drunk drivers.

I did something kinda similar to friends in high school. They were being complete idiots driving around drunk and high and flipped their car into a field. I heard about it and called the cops. Somehow they got it right side up and out of there before the police arrived. None of them ever found out I did it and the ones I keep in touch with somehow managed not to get themselves (or anyone else) killed while they matured out of that phase. shrug.

Did something similar. The person was really going all over the street. The police said I had to follow him until they get to him. The guy started to notice that I was following him and seemed to straighten up. Good chance he was just using a cellphone for all I know, but he warranted a phone call to the police.

Good job man! I've done this before and had no reservations about it. When a drunk killed a family of 4 a few weeks ago, with a BAC of almost 4 times the legal limit, it just reinforces why we must report it, when we see it happening. Damn drunk drivers! :|

??? What do you mean it's an offense not to report drunk drivers? How would they enforce that?
