Who said anything about punish? Not I. I've said from the very beginning that this was a lovers' quarrel. A drunken spat. Why only he should be punished when they were both punching each other is sexist. If he continued to hit her while she was knocked out then he should've been duly punished. But he didn't do that

But, again, that's not the case here. These guys are being vilified in the media and charged by the relevant authorities...

They are not being charged by the relevant authorities. The NFL is shielding them and has shielded other players from the legal system. If you had bothered to check the link I provided, you would have learned of another person's story of similar circumstances.

It doesn't matter to Dari. If you can buy your way out of it you aren't guilty.

Oh, they weren't charged? Then there's nothing to see here. I thought this went to the GD. I can't believe there have been 500+ posts on something that government did not deem going to court over. Only because RR is a celebrity/athlete is there so much discussion on it. Fact is, it was an innocent fight. They kissed and made up. Even got married. G-d bless them.

But G-d forbid that a man kills 5 or 7 children. Then not a peep from the moralists on this forum. Holier-than-thou absolutists who are ready to throw anyone above them under the bus but completely silent on massacres. Why? Just cause they're haters. Shameful shit. I'm out.

I had a very good friend that worked for Legal Aid. She would tell my wife and I stories about how horrible some of the domestic abuse was and how they all said "He's a changed man" and "He will never do it again" or "It was my fault" or "he was drunk" or "it was an innocent mistake". These women would come to her with fractured eye sockets, broken noses and demand to press charges only to never show up at court. Why? She would get back in touch with them and they would give her the "changed man" spiel. Of course the men would beg for forgiveness and say they are changed and go through treatment. They rarely meant it, they rarely followed through and most beat again. The recidivism rate is huge. Statistically speaking the one well-known way to reduce recidivism is a conviction, period. Anything less greatly increases the chance of it happening again.

This wasn't some innocent fight. It likely happened in the past and will likely happen in the future.

It has nothing to do with "haters". It has to do with somebody who is a very public person that relies massively on that public persona to drive pay and revenue for his ball club. It has to do with a cover up and paying high dollar to bury problems.

Who gives a fuck? There are starving Africans in war-torn countries dying of Ebola as I write this. A trifecta if ever there was one. Help those motherfuckers out. They need your energy and support far more than Ms. Rice.

Why do you care about defending him? You spend so much time defending Michael Brown, Trayvon, Ray Rice...etc. Why not spend more productive time saving Africans? Who gives a shit whether these multi-millionaire assholes are publicly pilloried?

I like how you put Michael Brown in there. Says so much about you...

Actually I was in Africa a couple of years ago defending Africans. It was part of my job. Believe you me, you haven't seen misery or ecstasy until you've visited one of those places. So much misery yet the people are content and somehow find a way to live. I enjoyed my time there despite the wars, stomach worms and other health hazards.

I also had a cousin who was married to a wife-beater. I would beat the shit out of him every time she called our house. But she'd always go back to him. I stopped after the third time. She could not find the strength to move on. Or was too lazy or felt too much the victim. Or maybe she enjoyed being a victim. Then I started looking at things from his point of view. To him, she wasn't a punching bag, but an agitator. He was also insecure and could not control his emotions. In some perverted way they deserved each other. No marriage is perfect. Some are built on strong foundation. Others, flimsy ones. But there's usually a connection and, sad to say, some people like to be victims. I had my own problems so I just stopped caring.

If you look into the abyss, it'll look into you. There is a lot of misery in this world. And, we only have limited resources to go about helping everyone. You may not even get the desired effect. Dealing in misery WILL make you miserable. No one is immune from it. Committing so much resources to something you cannot change just isn't worth it. Better to focus on your children and make them better human beings and let the dying die.

It isn't so much about her specifically. It is about how our society stands up to abuse of women, or not

Yay, you! Some people are not worth saving. Only they can save themselves.

You first.

We spend tons of money helping these countries with many of these issues. Sometimes it helps, more often it doesn't (outsiders get called demons and blamed for introducing these "evil diseases").

Regardless. you're deflecting like an idiot would. That isn't the issue. We're talking about home-grown domestic violence. Stay on target.

Yet another Dari proving just how much of a total shitbag he really is thread.

What a fucking coward, your cousin was being beaten up so you decide instead of doing something about it other than probably some pansyass "stop calling my house!" telling off when he kept calling, you decide to just consider him a victim. Fucking pathetic.

http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-comme.../why-hope-solo-suspended-team-usa-immediately

I think this article brings to light a double standard that exists regarding women and domestic violence. She attacks her sister and nephew and the US Olympic team does nothing.

Edit: She sure is a real butthole for attacking someone who is legally a child.

It does to a certain extent, but come on, there's a reason for that. It's because domestic violence is more often than not carried out by one gender on the other. Hell she herself was likely a victim of it even, by, surprise surprise, an NFL player (or rather a former one).

The reason the NFL situation is blowing up bigger is because well, do we really need to spell out the differences? NFL is much bigger deal than women's soccer. There was video proof of what Ray Rice did and in the aftermath, there's been a lot of other issues (like the "we didn't see it" "they totally saw it!" back and forth). Not only that, but this is just the latest in a string of this in the NFL, which less than 2 years ago included a player murdering his girlfriend.

I absolutely think the Hope Solo situation deserves scrutiny and possible action similar to the NFL (suspension until the legal aspect is worked out).

Congrats on being a colossal waste of everyone's time, proving once again your ego is more important to you than reading other people's words.

Demanding people be angry and outraged at what you tell them to, all the while you openly admit you don't care yourself. You're a hypocrite through and through.

Dari's logic:

Unless you devote time to fix all the problems in the world, you are wrong to help support any single problem in the world. You should instead give up on caring about anything. Like I did.

In case you haven't been paying attention, I've done my part. WHen in government, I was in Africa. In several west African countries, in addition to one east African country. I went there, helped out the people and my country. Got sick (worms) and ate chicken tougher than rocks. And rice (with actual rocks in it). WTF have you done?

My issue with all the fake outrage here is the double standard vis-a-vis domestic violence. When a man does it all the assholes come out of the woodwork, stand on their soapbox, and tell us how outrage they are. When a woman does it, crickets. And giggles. I have a lot of females in my family and it's a pain having to put out all their fucking fires, most of which they cause themselves. Women are not children and they should not be treated as such.

How many times can you beat someone up before getting tired of doing it? When the 3rd time came around, to prevent something from happening to me and get a better understanding of what was going on, I stopped and thought about their issues. I bet you would've kept hitting the guy that was hitting your family member, right? And end up in jail over something you really did not understand? Smart.

If only you managed to keep your word for once in your sad pathetic life ATOT would be a much better place.
I'd love to leave this thread but there is a lot of misunderstanding/denial going on. I know you know I'm right but can't stand to admit it. Unfortunately, lessons have to be learned by many in this thread. Calling me all sorts of unpleasant names (unfortunately, I cannot respond in kind or the Bias Squad will come knocking) won't change the fact double standards exist. To me, if a person is an adult and acts like an adult towards others, no double standard should exist. Period. It is not difficult to understand. Why a woman is allowed to hit a man but the opposite is seriously frowned upon I simply do not understand. Neither party should be fighting over something non-threatening. No one should lose control of their emotions or fight unless it's warranted.

Oh, and don't think I forgot GagHalfrunt. You still owe me a bj.

Everybody wants to be a victim. Why? Because it feels good. Because it relieves them of their responsibilities. Because it pays. I think it's worse than pathetic to indulge in victimhood. Sickening, even. If someone hurts you it's best to retaliate in an unimaginable way so as to guarantee it's never repeated. The worst thing to do is swim in your sorrows.

that's like TH's metric for when he will accept same sex marriage--only when humans are allowed to marry rocks, will I accept same sex marriage!

For Dari: Only when you eat rice with rocks in it, while in some shithole country doing little more than prop up some murderous dictator with your efforts, can you then bitch about domestic issues.

That is not what I said.

So you're claiming you actually beat the guy up? Over the phone because your post acted like you just told him off over the phone. Or over him calling? I know you like talking out of your ass but can you at least try to make your ass talking clear? Yeah I bet you beat him up. Bullshit. Not only that but that's got to be the goddamn dumbest thing you could have done about it. Yeah, because in your world only the third time you beat someone up would you end up in jail.
