Anyone played this on the Vita and a console (not wiiU) how does it compare graphically and does it play better one way or the other?
I've played it on a Vita and a PC, if that's worth counting.
The PC/console versions are going to be better graphically due to their resolution. There haven't been any significant compromises made on the assets themselves (i.e. it's not noticeably overcompressed), but it won't have the same clarity of the consoles due to the qHD screen. Though it's still graphically one the best looking games out there.
The audio however is hit and miss. I feel that the audio tracks on the Vita have been overcompressed. Compare Castle Rock, for example. The PC version is CD quality; the Vita version sounds like it's 64Kbps AAC-LC. Given just how amazing the music is in spots, that's a let down. The audio bitrate basically needs to be twice as high, in my opinion.
Finally, as far as playability is concerned I have to admit I like the PC better than the Vita here. The touchscreen controls and the use of Murfy on the WiiU/Vita is very well thought out. But it's clear it was designed for multiplayer where someone could be the platformer and someone could be the manipulator. It's magic when doing that while it breaks down in singleplayer.
The PC/console versions put the player in control of platforming while the AI is in control of Murfy, however on the WiiU and Vita it's the other way around. As a result on the Vita you're jabbing at a 5" screen trying to control Murfy, while the AI may or may not be doing what you want for the platforming character (note that it's always Globox, I assume because he's the biggest and thereby most visible character). I am the kind of person who is here for the platforming, so to be ripped out of the platforming and made to play what feels like an iOS game is disappointing to say the least. So the PC version is much more enjoyable in that regard since I'm always platforming.
To be honest I'm holding out hope that they will use the Vita Invasion patch to work in the PC/console platforming option. Though it's admittedly a long shot.
