Different classes of mice.
Laser pickup, upgradable firmware vs. IR pickup, 1600 DPI from a product line Razer probably peddled to OEM's.

I think there is a diffterence between 2000DPI and 1600DPI in gaming. For gaming, a better mouse is important. However, if you do not focus on gaming, 1600DPI mouse is enough.

No, I have an mx518 and its 1600dpi, its also known as one of the best mouses for gaming. What mostly comes down to when you compare mice is the design and ergonomics.

I have heard people say 2000dpi can be almost *too* sensitive for many games. The good news is, this model can adjust its sensitivity on the fly to lower levels.

One of the features afforded by upgradeable firmware. It's not that the mouse is more sensitive, it's also more intelligent.

I'm thinking.. isn't it possible to interpolate on-screen movement to use the extra resolution to make the movement SMOOTHER? I.E. if a 400DPI mouse requires 3 inches of desk space to turn your character 30 degrees, and the character will go through 1200 positions during that time (400 dots per inch * 3 inches), couldn't a 2000DPI mouse put the character through 6000 positions, this making aiming at long-distance objects easier?

Are u kidding?

800DPI is plenty of you're not gaming and you're just doing everyday things like surfing the net.

2000DPI is honestly overkill...mice have fallen into the the marketing numbers game.

I hated my Razer DB. The buttons are way too light, I would click them oftem by mistake. But the worst part was the scroll wheel, which I think was defective, as it would not send scroll messages in a uniform fashion, and sometimes would scroll in the other direction for a little bit. That would obviously ruin weapon switching in video games, so I couldn't use it. I tried changing sensitivity settings etc but nothing worked, the reverse scroll problem always remained.

And the side buttons are also pretty bad, they are not well placed, and it's easy to click them by mistake. So to summarize - bad scroll wheel (might have been a defect), touchy buttons, and badly designed side buttons AND weird software drivers AND strange german stuff == BAD MOUSE, not worth the trouble.

The Logytech G5 is WAY better
