lol, keep thinking that.

You seem to be the type that's right about everything and knows exactly what everyone wants. Guess what, buddy, you don't. We each have our own personal preferences, and if some of us like mice and keyboards better than controllers, so be it. You have no room to speak for everyone and say that a controller is a superior device for everyone to use in everything except FPS games because that simply isn't true.

lol, that was great

Yeah, you guys do realize that you can use controllers on PCs, right? Like, you can buy them and everything...

So you berate him for speaking for everybody as you put words in his mouth... Hypocrite much?

You didn't seem to understand the context his post was in anyway.

How did I do that at all? It's very obvious that he thinks his opinion on the matter is absolute fact, as he argues with people who enjoy mice and keyboards more than controllers, proving his point wrong, but he keeps arguing it anyways. I didn't speak for anyone. I simply stated that different people have different preferences and that controllers aren't for everyone, but neither are mice and keyboards.

You seem to be the one who isn't understanding the context of the posting.

There's really nothing to miss in his posting; he's saying that he thinks controllers are superior to mice and keyboards in all situations except FPS and MMOs, but that's simply not the case, as it's completely a matter of personal preference.

And he told you his, yet you jumped down his throat like an ass for it.

Hypocrite indeed.

I also agree with him, controller is almost always the better choice for games outside of FPS games and those requiring complex button mapping (Simulation, MMO, RTS)

KB/mouse makes little to no difference in most if not all sports games, as well as platformers and act/adv games

the only games it makes a difference in are FPS games, MMOs - which dont really exist on consoles anyway and RTS games

and on the MMO front sony actually had KB/Mouse support for FF11 on the PS2

So at best the KB/M is as good as a controller and at worst the KB/M completely destroys the controller.

I would agree.

The only area where I think a controller destroys a KB/mouse is fighting games. Otherwise, I'd always prefer KB/mouse.

Also, lol at Razer's letter.

Well, it's nice of Razer to take a position... but I don't think anything is going to save the desktop PC as a computing platform, much less a gaming platform.

If it's a new console. i saw it at CES 2011. i vote for lame and think the smartphones will kill it. Too little too late. Especially too late.

it might catch on if it was a fully functioning netbook/laptop whatever, but those keys don't exactly look conducive to normal workloads and touch-typing

but yeah, I don't see how it'll be powerful enough to truly set it apart from smartphone/tablet gaming without lots of developer support to show that the gaming experience is that much better

He was replying to a user talking about why developers don't support online play between consoles and PC's, and he simply stated that in shooters, the keyboard mouse combo is better than a controller so it wouldn't work. He later added that in most other multiplatform genre's it doesn't really make a competitive difference which input method you use.

He didn't say you can't prefer one or the other, or that you wouldn't be better with one or the other personally. It was simply a generalized statement about PVP gaming, and how in genres other than shooters, the input method when put in the hands of a capable gamer won't likely be a large advantage or disadvantage.

I personally prefer a mouse and keyboard for everything I play, and I would certainly perform my personal best using it in all genre's. However if I were to compete against a console gamer who's personal preference is a controller, I believe in most multiplatform genre's our input methods would be mostly moot.

If you honestly want to keep your panties in a bunch over such an impersonal point, or simply get pissed off at what you think he implied by reading between the lines, feel free to continue.

That laptop/notebook is a terrible idea. I can't believe Razer is seriously releasing that. Who is the market for this?

Am I the only one that thinks that thing looks like what a laptop put out by the army would look like? In fact I think I used to use something similar for crypto lol.

To this day I would still rather use a keyboard for fighting games than touch most controllers that aren't a sega saturn controller, unless we are adding arcade sticks to the controller category. Then it's arcade stick > keyboard > standard controller for me.

The laptop could be cool if it could somehow have the best of both worlds; the efficiency of a console with the form factor and connectivity of a PC, but I definitely would not have Razer as my first choice for that task.

If you are looking at the pic that i took at CES in January - that was a prototype.

Frankly it would have to be really impressive - i think it would need native S3D glasses-free support, 3D dual video, smartphone and netbook capabilities - and the ability to interface seamlessly with PC games online and LAN

Are you guys saying this is a Wii-U controller, only for your PC?

i.e., you have your PC doing all the work and broadcasting the image to this thing?

That is kinda ironic, because a lot of PC games these days are accused of being console ports.

PC gamers - oh look, another crappy console port to the pc.

Console players - oh look, another pc port to the console.

It's not ironic. It's just the fact that ports tend to suck period. The main reason you get a lot of whinning from PC gamers is that it's getting to the point where most big name software is ported and what's worse it's clear almost no effort was put into the port (things like simple changes to a config to fix glaring issues with controls).

Oh boy. Their "huge announcement" is an overpriced gaming laptop with a screen in the palmrest area.
