I do understand hyperbole...
It was a stupid comment, I just pointed it out.

As when I make a statement such as he did you would be one of the ringleaders pointing out how stupid you think it is.
Those who can't refute the central point resort to refuting technicalities in order to avoid altering their world view to match reality.

If the Republicans do manage to create a 6-3 majority, it will not in any way reflect public opinion.

The House should just shut up and let the Senate do this already. A quick pre-election confirmation likely helps both Biden and the Dems’ Senate chances. Let the Republicans perform their skulduggery now, make them pay out the ass after January.

End result will be Trump appoints one-third of the Court, and GOP will have appointed 15 of the last 19 Justices. Worse of all is Trump/ McConnell have focused on appointing not only ideologues, but young ones at that. The USA is going to saddled with this millstone for the next 40+ years.

I'm very much afraid we are seeing the end days of the great experiment of democracy. The new USA will be a banana republic absolutely ruled by the billionaires with increased poverty and stratification of income and assets. Worst of all, we did it to ourselves-voluntarily.

A hard right reactionary court will lose legitimacy among the people, especially if it attacks the likes of Roe and the ACA. One of the leading candidates for the opening has argued in the past that both the state of West Virginia and Social Security lack constitutional legitimacy. Ignoring the Supreme Court rulings if they fly in the face of public opinion is something Dems and a small subset of Republicans may be uncomfortable doing but they’ll be able to pull it off if they have the testicular fortitude to do so.

Can we have a sticky at the top of the forum for all posters who should be on ignore when you come to this forum? I have at least 4 id like to nominate. That way they will just leave when no one ever responds or see's their messages. Seriously, their responses are not even worthy of being read because they lack reading comprehension, information retention, logic, reason, etc.

If not a sticky can we all just agree to do it?

I'm simply saying that is by definition also hypocrisy. It's a classic "Do as I say, not as I do"
The republicans are going against precedent they set just over 4 years ago...

the Democratic party has not had an opportunity to get control of the Senate and deny a Republican president a nomination to SCotUS in the last year of his term yet (Obama's nominee who wasn't even very leftist mostly a bit more left of center than radical iirc; didn't even get a hearing)...

So you're charge of hypocrisy by the Democrats has to be for something not even closely similar to the specific hypocrisy that the republicans are engaging in currently in relation to SCotUS picks
and I don't believe the crap that you weren't defending their hypocrisy.... you replied to my post didn't you?

This is probably my fault - I was thinking "surely there's no way this year can get any worse" - which clearly angered the Gods.

Then things start going bad you never ever ever say or think . o 0 ("surely there's no way this year can get any worse")

What happened was Romney realized that Trump's nominee list mirrored Romney's own nominee list. Remember who Mitt Romney is and how religion is everything to Mitt Romney. Mitt couldn't be happier with the possibility of Amy Coney Barrett on the high court. Just look into her eyes, the eyes of total religious insanity. Just imagine this flaming haired demon deciding laws that affect YOU.

Her eyes don't seem so much different than this person's eyes...

So tell me where Democrats stated that they now accept this rule as the new law of the land and that they would abide by this precedent for any future similar situations that they come across.

How is it willful ignorance when we all know an appointment of a SCOTUS Justice is perfectly legal. It doesn't matter if you like it or not. I don't think he should at this point either.

I'm not going to play what if with the Hillary Game. No point in it.
Can you explain to me please, how the Senate Majority Leader, Denying a sitting president, that President's Constitutional RIGHT, to appoint AND for the Senate to hold a hearing and vote yes or no on that appointment. 9 months before the election, and almost 12 months before inauguration.
Compared to less than 50 days to an election, holding and promising a vote on an unpopular sitting President, fast tracking a nomination to and thru the Senate in 3/4 of the time of the previous Presidential nomination of the previous sitting President?

TLDR, what is different now than then?
