OK -- I admit it, I could not resist. JC Penny deal = $30 - $5 discount code + $8 shipping + tax. In stock now.

So where is the best deal on rechargeable D-Cells + Charger??? I have several chargers but none for D-Cells... never thought I would need it. Then again, never thought I would be buying a charger for a charger!

EDIT : Forget the D-Cell charger -- make your own car charger, much more economical, and no extra batteries to worry about:

Anyone know if you can buy this at a JCPenney store as opposed to ordering online?

Availability based on zip code. FL and GA seem to work. CO does not.

Not available in the store.

YES - its the same one. Hard to believe, a real deal plane that is readily modifiable and people are raving about, for only $30. This is my first RC plane. Tons of info and reviews by the people on that link I gave. Most of them ordered from JCPenny. There is still availability in my zip (Pennsylvania), but not for others...

The "make your own charger" link just gets me to a discussion thread,
where I see no mention of this charger.

Am I missing something ?

The "make your own charger" link just gets me to a discussion thread,

You have to actually READ the discussion thread to find the info...

For the lazy, you want to buy a cheap DC aerobird charger (you can get them for $15, I suggest a local hobby store). Then make your own connector. Its really not that hard. Take the cheasy D-Cell charger that comes with the Stealth, cut its connector off (leave as much wire coming from the connector as you can), then use some twist caps (can get them from your local hardware store) and attach the leads to the ones coming off the DC charger (red to red, black to black). And don't even think about suing me if you burn your house down. Only charge on low amp setting (.3 is recommended, .6 supposedly works too, and is faster). I have not done any of this yet as I only ordered the plane yesterday and don't have it yet.

Like I said, you can find out a lot of information from the links provided by the manufacturer.

Got mine Whooo! arrived in one day with standard shipping.

JC Penny's does have the chrger (I know I'm not the first to say it but just confirming), it feels realy light and not particularly strong, I'd probably kill it in one flight, except for the foot and a half of snow outside .

going to try it right not

Why not get a few good rechargeble d-cells instead?

Because that would be silly. First off, it is mad expensive:

<a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.bydusa.com/product.asp?3=46">4 D Size NiMH 8000 mAh Batteries + V-1199 Universal Quick Charger
Sale Price $45.99</a>

Second, the whole idea is rediculous. You should not have to charge batteries in order to charge your other batteries. Its unbelievably innefficient.

Thrid, the D-Charger only takes 4, and you need 6.

I bought the DC Peak charger for just $15 from a local hobby shop (also saw one on Ebay for that price). It works fine for charging the Stealth battery, and plugs right into your car's cigarette lighter.

Looks like its back in stock. Make sure to use the $5 off code (found elsewhere) to make this even hotter. My total was $34.23 after tax and shipping. I was able to save an additional $1.25 by having it sent to the local JCPenney instead of shipped to me.

The item is not available to california shipping addresses. Is tehre any way to still do the deal? I tried asking if I was allowed to place an order and pretend my shipping address was FLorida and later change it through their 1-800 number, and they said they wouldnt do that... anyone know what to do?

It shouldn't be hard to rig up the included charger to work with AA instead of D. Since everybody in here has probably dozens of NIMH AA bats. Voltage is the same (ok slightly less for NIMH but not enough to matter), you just have a lot less capacity with AA. But if they're rechargable anyway....

the customer rep for jcpenny.com said it was discontinued when I tried to order one to california. it seems they're clearing these out for good with a low chance of them restocking it.

A couple of ppl say it's disconninued and out of stock, but when I order it it was fine. Anyway, I am expecting to get it soon. Hopefully tomorrow or sometime soon. The weather is nice so I want to fly it. If it even can fly.

I got my friend in FL to order one for me.

Given that this is a 2 channel system, I am thinking of learning to fly
using this ARF and when I get tired of it, build my own 2 channel
plane using free plans from. Apparently one can build it with $10-15 parts
