rc5 blocks seem to be missing again

Dennil, might it be that the Borg-pproxy is down? I can't connect to tacube.com at least ... just a suggestion, but I wouldn't trust it since our internet connection has some issues :frown:

dePaul, Far Eastern and Supernaut all have a significantly lower keyrate than normal, not just TA Cube.

Yeah the numbers are way down. If you look at what the tacube have at d.net, and what went through the tacube proxy yesterday, there is a difference of about 50K blocks.

Yeah, it seems to have hit everyone. I'm out 700 blocks (about 9% of my total) for yesterday. I think the proxy servers were a bit clogged yesterday evening, so the master probably didn't get a chance to process all the blocks before the stats run started. Hopefully they'll show up to tomorrow.

From the mail on the rc5 lists, i gathered that the keymaster was down for a little while yesterday. That could probably cause the backlog we are seeing here.

As you can see in my Excel Spreadsheet, I'm missing 92,597 on Jay's pProxy and 94,597 on Mika's pProxy Since November 10, 2000. Over the last week I've been losing 13.18% of my total output.

I still have not heard back from John Bishop (Moose's friend) about the cause of the missing blocks. Could this have to do with the pProxy not using FIFO buffers, and blocks just getting too old?

TA Cube is missing over 70,000 blocks from the 21st. No, there have been no problems with the pproxy. We did 181,000 blocks through it yesterday, and we have another 65,000 a day that flushes directly to Dnet.

We should be showing approximately 246,000 for the day, yet only 172,000 are credited. All of those around us are also missing a substantial amount of production.

These problems at Dnet would be a hell of a lot easier to stomache if they'd take five minutes and put SOMETHING in the .plan so we know what's going on.

Tacube.com is indeed down right now. But, it's a hosted site. The pproxy is on a different server: Mine.

EDIT: I just sent an eMail to Moose asking what's going on. I don't think he's going to be joyous when he reads it.

As I told russ in an email I'm sorry for the lost blocks. I understand it is frustrating. I have forwarded the report to our stats people. I hope they will come up with a plan to explain why a sudden missing set of blocks or reply to russ personally.

As far as the pproxy buffers go. I thought I responded to your thread before but I guess not. The pproxy buffers are FIFO.

I'll try to get an update for you soon from the stats guys.

Russ posted in a simular topic over at GoT so..

A lot of DPC members are missing blocks also. I myself am not only missing 5K in RC5 but also 20 Tnodes in OGR.

I really don't understand Moose's post: are the blocks/stubs everybody are missing gone to D.net walhalla, never to be accounted for or is there still a chance they will show up in the stats?

Anyway i think it shows little respect to all the participants that D.net doesn't give an explanation in a .plan as soon as something like this happens. Only after Russ send an email there was a reply, and in my opion not a very clear one.

Lets hope all blocks/stubs will show up tomorrow.

I don't know that there is anything wrong. I have heard nothing one way or the other. I know we had a master outage yesterday and some the day before. So that could be the cause and maybe the blocks will come back after today. I don't know. I've been asking around no one really knows of anything wrong, but they also aren't the ones who deal first hand with stats or with master operations.

I'm still trying to gather information.

The only reason I found out that their might be a problem was thanks to russ. I know I havn't been paying as much attention to the forums as I usually do since we just bought a house and work. I've tried to at least read the topics once a day to see if there is anything that jumps out at me.

Please remember that you can always send an email to to me (moose@distributed.net) or help@distributed.net if you think things aren't going well. I might not answer your email right away or I might forward it on to others who might know. But I try to follow up on things.

Trust me, there is something wrong. Go here and look at our block history. Then look at the histories of the other heavy hitters around us.

If it were just TA Cube missing blocks, one might be able to argue about it. But, everyone is missing large quantities.

Sorry, but you should know what our daily (TA/DPC) output is and if it is +/- 30% less than usual somebody at D.net should be alarmed.

Just the fact that nobody at D.net seems to bother to keep everyone posted(i know volunteers and all of that) is not a good sign.
