Just wanted to drop this in here in case anyone in the Puget Sound area is looking for a TV. Awesome deal for the biggest 16:9 ratio tube TV on the market.

I suppose there might be a small chance some other Sears might have this deal if they aren't going to carry this model any more and all they have left is the floor model. Most places want $2000-$2500 for this TV.

I have never understood buying a $2,500 tv, much less then a $1,200, when you can buy a projector for that amount of $$$ and get a screen that you don't measure it in inchs, you measure it in feet! But to each their own, momma always used to say...

Can projectors do HDTV? And I know that all the top Chicago Home Theatre reps try and sell the projectors for people looking to build movie rooms in their homes.

Can projectors do HDTV, thats like asking if birds can fly...hehehe. Yup, most modern projectors will take a HDTV input or two of various sorts. Wether that be 720p or another format. Check www.projectorcentral.com if the projector your looking at can take HDTV inputs. Take for example the Panasonic AE-100, Panny Ae-100, it will take 720p and 1080i. It goes for $1200 or so new. Heck even reconditioned low end 7" gun CRT projectors can be had for $600, you may want a 9" gunned one for resolving full bore HDTV resolutions, but hay those are even reasonable. And screens can built for less then $50 with readily availible materials if you don't have the cash for a professional screen system, and you get 97-99% of the quality of a professional screen. Goto AVSforum to learn more, you'll never turn back to once you go for a projector, of course you'll want the dedicated room to go along with it, and maybe a lobby as well, and a popcorn machine and cart, and well I could go on forever .

I have a DLP projector. It looks great, for a projector. The pro for a projector is that the image is big. But in terms of sharpness, contrast and color saturation. It doesn't come close to a good tube. When my friends come over to watch movies, I always ask "Do you want quality or quantity?".

$500 is on the high side of things, ok there are projectors that take $1000 lamps, but are also a bit more $$$ for the projector then most would pay for one, overall lamps are more regularly $200-300. Most projector lamps last 2000hrs, the AE-100 lamps last 4000, and are $250~. Which is a whole $.07~ per hour to run. Drops in a bucket if ya ask me. And CRT tubes last 4,000-10,000 hours, depends if you burned them at all and how hot you run your picture. Get a 27"~ TV for watching news and such, and a projector for your entertainment programing, which is what I do.

Is this unit sold in the USA? I can not get any dealers in my area and I can't find any online dealers. The reviews that came up on the unit where from England. Where did you see (and purchase) your unit?

There are a couple at my local Best Buy marked as clearance items. They're going for $1420.

this TV is one of the best tube TVs around! Saw it in Sears and CC and I was impressed by the quality compared to some other HDTVs
