RCA K@ZOO MP3 $35 on clearance

Kmart has these mp3 players on clearance. The one in my area sold the 32mb model which is upgradeable to 128mb, plenty for a good workout. I had a chance to hear one play before now. Though really loud, headphones could be better, at $80-100 I could not find the value. I spoke to the electronics person there at the time and she led me to believe that they were phasing out their software and computer related hardware. I got some really great deals on software also. If you have one in your area its worth a look.

The unit sounds really good. Battery life is kind of disappointment. Two recahrgable batteries (700 ma) last less than 3 hours.

I'm still looking for a suitable low-end mp3 cd player. I listen to books on tape (via mp3) and they are just one one track. Its so frustrating not having a search button for in track (sorry a bit of an off-topic ramble there). I'd love to hear if this player has any sort of search ability.

I would hunt out a RIO 500 ... I heard there is a hack they can run 128 mb SM cards.... plenty for a few books

This thing does not work well with XP...I have one and have not been able to get it to work on two different XP boxes. Win2K was fine though. Music Match Sucks BTW.

The player itself is great. It comes with an arm strap and is perfect for working out. It can take a 128MB MMC card which puts it up to 160MB memory.

I use this with XP no problems.

It is great for jogging... Very small unit.

definitely a "YMMV" item. We clearanced these out a while ago and Corporate has re-downloaded prices for stores with the K@zoo's left in stock. Although i didn't pick one up from kmart, i liked my k@zoo b/c it didn't have a backlight, so i didn't waste all those batterys. Other than the fact that i had to use a MMC (which are expensive as hell), it was a pretty good player.

i've heard people say it takes MMC, so i was wondering if SD works too. They usually both work on SD cameras. Does anybody know anything about this?

From the reviews I've read it doesnt work w/ SD. The 128 MB version of the Kazoo works w/ SD. I've tried and returned both. I bought the 32 MB versoin because it was a fairly good deal AR, but then decided that itd be nice to have the 128MB + SD & MMC compatible instead of just MMC compatibility, plus the price almost justified it. I was really impressed with the sound quality of the 32MB version, but returned it because of compatibility. I bought the 128 thinkin I had a good deal...I was wrong the player was horrible and I used the same headphones that I used on the 32MB version plus the same song. I think ill stop by my local K mart and see if i can buy one.
