I put an ASUS Strix 5700 XT in my system. Generally speaking there are a lot of problems, both on Linux (which I prefer to use) and on Windows, here I will only address Windows at first. When I start up Rise of the Tomb Raider it respects the settings which I entered in AMD Settings and Wattman. I use a FPS-cap, I undervolt the GPU and I overclock the GDDR6. It works great, I get around 92 FPS all the time with almost all settings maxed out, I don't hear any noise and I can game for hours without any problem. When I try to limit the FPS or clock frequency for Borderlands3 the settings are not applied. I tried to lower the maximum GPU clock frequency to 1860 MHz, I tried to lower the maximum power and the maximum RPM. Whatever I did, Borderlands3 kept using 1960'ish MHz all the time, in the menu (Why? @Gearbox) and in the game. I tried to restart AMD Settings multiple times, I started up the game after I had AMD Settings open and of course I always hit "apply" in AMD Settings Wattman before starting the game. Nothing helped. The 5700 XT is a solid GPU and with respect to cooling the Strix is a solid card but ASUS really screwed up by not having a powersaving BIOS, you have all that extra heat (100-200 mV to get 100 MHz higher?) for a negligible (2-3% according to Gamers Nexus) FPS-gain, it is not worth it! Borderlands3 also crashed two times after a longer time of playing (over 2 hours) with less than a minute between the crashes. That might be a hardware problem (lack of airflow over my memory B-die or whatever) but just in case others have this problem too I point it out.
