With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

I measure it from a different method and also reached 388mm2. Big boy, much more believable than rumors.
And also
N31's GCD was around that size if I recall correctly, assuming you consider that a monolithic GPU like RDNA 4 has IO on it as well. If N48 can't even hit similar levels of performance, that would be just sad.

Let’s for wait for more games. cod has always performed better on RDNA and no 9070XT is not going to be better than a RTX 4090 especially with DLSS4, just like how the RTX 5070 won’t be faster.

12pin?
The preferred and future connector. ASRock is very forward-thinking.

I don't think so.

Here's my last 9070 XT guess:
64 CU @ 3.1GHz 300W. About half way between 7900 GRE and 7900 XT in raster at 4K.
Unfortunate but salvagable at the right price (which AMD still won't pick).
You're assuming a regression from RDNA 3 in PPW. I'm more optimistic.
I had my guess based on average, and above average improvements from RDNA 3 - 4070 TiS, 7900 XT level respectively. Final guess: 260W, ~7900 XT raster, 4070 Ti RT for MBA, and AIBs will push TDP 15-20% more and could put it in 4080 class.
Red Devil is an outlier in how it pushes things for plateauing gains.

Anyone with 9800x3d +7800xt/6800xt/7900xt have Black ops 6 ?
Im already downloading to test on my but only 600mbps internet and its 230gb...

4k extreme no upscaling or frame gen
9070xt perf

The orignal source says 9070 (non-xt) bit maybe that was wrong. Anway it's COD so one can only really compare to other AMD cards as AMD cards do very, very good in this game compared to NV.

If AMD had a 9070XT that was a clear topper of the 7900XTX and were ready to drop it for $599 or so why wouldn't they just get it done with?

Because they likely didn't know NV performance or pricing. So better to just wait. if they thought say a 5070 being much faster than it actually is and priced their 9070 XT at $549 as well to figure out they could sell it for $649, that would be pretty bad.

Due to the huge coolers and that someone on reddit said that die shot is not N48 I suspect the leaks were correct but the thing clocks like crazy at cost of power use. let's see. I hope there will be some dual fan version as all these huge as cards don't fit into my old case.

MBA 9070 XT can be $500 at best even based on optimistic RDNA 4 uptick. Anything more, AMD will have to vanish from the market. Like it or not, NV delivers gen on gen, and this time the 5070 is formidable in price & performance. DLSS 4 vs FSR 4 isn't even a contest as of now. AMD also have to compete with 4070 Ti/TiS.

Past rumors said TDP of N48 was 220W which might not be for XT model which comes with three fans solution. That's mean AMD could clock N48 to much higher speed.

Anyone has heard about what type of memory speed is being used? If 24Gbps GDDR6 is used, with 768GB/s memory bandwidth, it could be faster than 7900XT in rasterization.

Let's see how the outcome in the coming days。。。

LOL at recommending a 12GB VRAM 5070 in year 2025. It's only there to upsell people to the 5070 Ti.

Blackwell relies on DLSS4 and AI and is a rather sad improvement otherwise. Not to say AMD won't crap the bed though. They practically arlready have "vanished from the market".
