With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

It's probably a bit faster on average. Still I think reviews will be very negative because of same MSRP as NVIDIA, despite the fact that RTX 50 MSRP is not real.
Well, those 3x8-pin power behemoths they'll be reviewing at launch aren't going to be MSRP cards. Remains to be seen how many MSRP cards there will actually be that are worth buying.

$750 would likely mean closer to 1000 € in most countries. Not exactly great but RTX 5070 Ti is going to be more expensive.

Delaying is turning out to be the smartest thing they have done in years. All of the bellyaching (already started) will be as ineffectual as during the pandemic; it's a scalpers market again. They won't be able to keep stock on shelves. MSRP for many graphics cards has been meaningless so many times since 2018 that it is fake news.

The Radeon brand has been nothing if not consistent in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so this should be too shocking.

US$750 MSRP would go over really, really poorly. Chevy's not selling any Corvettes if they say it's pretty close to a Ferrari 458 so we're launching at $400k.
Hyperbole aside. Watch and see. No amount of complaining is going to keep the cards from selling out.

If stock is good, I'm not so sure. At $750 MSRP and $850 for mid-upper AIB that's really pushing it. A quick check shows a $720 7900XT and $920 XTX sitting in stock on Newegg right now. Unless it surprises and is at least as fast as an XTX, this is no better than a card with 50% more VRAM that's sitting in stock.

-Yeah it's a wasteland out there.

NV and AMD have done something we haven't seen in a long time. They actually sold out of their existing stock.

If you want or need a GPU now, odds are your options are going to be a 9070 series card or win the lottery (literally and figuratively) for an NV card.

Given the dopamine addict complete lack of self control nature of gamers, I suspect more than a few people will "settle" for a 9070 than wait for some ill-defined future where NV cards are readily available.

I can’t decide if I feel attacked, validated, or both…

It is true some stock just hit last night. Amazon has a few MSRPish cards including the 7800XT back in. Let's see how long they last before it's all scalper prices again.

That would all depend on performance. If the 9070XT ends up destroying the 5070ti in everything, including RT, it would be a good value.

Remember: there are negatives to selling your product for less than your competitors. A LOT of people assume (incorrectly) that price is some indication of quality/performance. Selling it for $750 could possibly increase sales! It all depends on the market. I am sure AMD has done its research here.

That being said, I hope it costs less. I might snag one for a build I am going to do for my daughter. I also haven’t owned an AMD card since polaris, so it would be cool to get one.

Looks like MSRP cards are $750 and $650 for 9070XT/9070
I think that this is AMD feeling dumb for not releasing a big RDNA4 and are now "tilting" with a stupid price as they're feeling like they missed a huge opportunity.

They should have gone with their original plans (I can't believe that $750 USD was the original price for the 9070XT).
