With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

yes they can, and they will if 5070 Ti is also ~4.000pln

the 749$ MSRP is pure fantasy
I think it's more about the fact 7900xtx is in stock in europe. So why should I pay more for same performance?
edit: cheapest 7900xtx is about $900 here incl all tax, never really was much cheaper. So if AMD releases the 9070 xt at $1000, it won't sell all that well especially since 7800xt can be had for $500 being much, much better value.

I think these are just placeholder prices, there is no way its more expensive than a 7900XTX. These sell for $1599AUD, so if the 9070 XT is MORE expensive, then the GPU market is dead to me.

It will likely be $1000-$1200AUD.

If amd think they can sell 9070xt for 480pln more than 7900xtx with -8gb vram they are mad.

Stock of G31 in North America at least seems to be gone. If you still have stock of it at well below MSRP prices in your market and you're looking for a new GPU, I'd seriously consider snagging one before it evaporates there too.

Yeah 9070vanilla should be like 500-550, just for kill 5070
$499 is a magic number, IMO. Even if it exists only for a moment, for the marketing. Just like the $549 5070.

I mean, if the 5070 pricing gets bloated at all 4070 Super owners deserve a nice pat on the back for a genius move. There were times they were under $600, and by a solid margin.

Just last week a couple 4070's popped up locally at ~$450, I likely should have been more aggressive.

Local 6900XT and 6800XT cards are back to be at $400-$600 asking. Sigh.

New cards always tend to have worse bang for buck ratio compared to outgoing discounted last-gen parts (hunting those at the time when n+1 generation lands has always been a good point for frugal GPU purchases, it's like with those price-slashed Ryzen 7000 processors). Completely normal.

That said, these prices may still be placeholders, I would wait for actual MSRPs. And then of course we'll see if the MSRPs hold or get Nvidia "way to be played".

The original rumored price was $479 FWIW, but I've it on good authority that has changed. The rumored price is $599 for the 9070 and $749 for the 9070ti. Some here think that'll be the case, and I've heard zilch beyond that so I'm not sure that'll be the case. I suspect it will still come in cheaper, but I have doubts it will launch at the $479 price point. Ignoring NVIDIA for a moment, a TON of things (even beyond politics) have been happening behind the scenes including supply chain issues, A rumored TSMC price increase, and more. If I were a betting man, I'd bet at least $600 for the 9070XT, but AMD could still surprise. They really wanted to nail the execution of this launch supposedly (they failed lol)

Oh and also, if Frank Azor hadn't started trolling folks on social media, I'd assume the $599/$749 rumors were legit, but he did, so now I think the leaks are wrong and it'll be at least somewhat cheaper. 🙃We'll see. 🤣

I think $600-650 would be very fair espeically with the fake MSRP were are seeing with the 5000 series. Of course that could happen to AMD as well.

I expect the 9070 would be closer in price to the 5070, maybe $500. With 12GB of VRAM that card should be avoided. Wouldn't surprised at all of both were priced higher though.

Now prices on previous gen are skyrocketing. Man this market is (deleted). I'm SO glad I jumped on the 9700xt back in December. Got all the usual "just wait a little longer" advice from the so-called conventional wisdom crowd that had convinced me a few years ago to pass on a used rtx 2080 for $500 because 30 series cards are "just around the corner". HA! Not this time. I saw this train wreck coming and got the (deleted) it before it derailed.

- My 6800xt for $415 in 2022 is looking like downright wizardry at this point.
