With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

5070ti basically appears to ~equal the 7900XTX, so yeah.

More than one reviewer shows it matching or even beating the XTX while it’s still close to it in others, depends on the game selection. I don’t see N48 being meaningfully faster than that. Maybe it ekes out a small win at 1440p.

A 4080 for 'MSRP' of $750

Nvidia insisted that the MSI card we tested has an MSRP of $749, though it was listed as $909 at Micro Center just hours before this review went live.​

I suspect it will come down to availability, too. It looks like there’s a real shortage of GPUs in the market. The RTX 5090 was barely in stock, and restocks are rare right now. And for 25 years there's been a significant jump from one gen to the next. But that wasn't the case for Nvidia this gen. There's also 0 stock of old gen or new gen cards. Things are different.

If AMD moves only 3 units, they should just give it a $599 MSRP rather than $749 to get a marketing win. Losing out on $150 x 3 units = $450 of revenue is worth it for the marketing win alone.

While I agree that AMD needs a halo part that competes with nVidia to take any real market share you're just trolling now. AMD has only had 2 halo parts recently that stacked up against nVidia (6950XT and 7900XTX). Other gens sold a fair amount of cards each gen. Just stop already.

Right... every reviewer and influencer were mocking the 749$ fake msrp, big uproar on 5070ti reviews even jayz2cents and ltt gave negative reviewe
And AMD will do 749$ for same performance card
Reason: They dont have halo and shotgun So they will price it 200 higher than 7900gre msrp with cheaper BOM to sell 3x less with higher proffit margin... 500ELO chess strategy.
That is why wholesaler i talked to has 3x more 9070xt than whole rtx5000 stock.

They didn't, AMD was running better value thinner margin offerings to gain no marketshare.
It was never a sustainable play.
