With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

Og launch (july 23) price of 7900gre was $649. It got reduced to $549 for global launch in 2024
Yes but that is another card, another time. I was only just pointing out that AMD reduced the possible range for the 9070XT price but they did not come out with a certain sum of money. It may be as well 679$, i.e. for what we know at the moment. As a gamer, I hope the price will be lower as well.

We need to see yet, real MSRP or Fake. Reaper and Pulse models will show to us.

UK have 20$ Vat

Well If that's true, it's more or less a wash in Raster perf/£ to the current lineup (with RT being faster of course):

In EU that's over 950€ for the XT with VAT (just about anywhere). Gotta love the new accessible pricing =/

And while it's 20% cheaper than any RTX 5070 Ti around here, it's exactly the same price as the few RTX 4070 Ti SUPER's still around (with the same RT perf and <10% higher raster perf). Yeah, not gonna take any market share

And to think B580 is widely available under at around 335€ (with a similar Die Size at TSMC 5nm). Yeah i know it's about 2x slower, has only 12GB of RAM and thinner coolers etc ... Base on that I would have expected 700-800€ not 1000€

Those 699/799 already include VAT
Beforce Tax - 580 and 670

Yeah, I get that, but the pound is really strong against EUR right now.

£799 -> €963.25

I don't even care as much about the actual retail price during the first month or two as there's an insane GPU shortage around. But based on the B580, RX 7700, and RX 7800 launch MSRPs, I think the Mean Suggested Fictional Price (™) should be:
  • $550 MSFP for the RX 9070
  • $650 MSFP for the RX 9070 XT

Above that means that they'll predictably be scolded about it in every single review. Just as I'm yet to find a review not ridiculing the "AMD Ryzen™ Al Max+ 395" naming for Strix Halo. (seriously, look it up! every single one in the introductory segment)

Something that was totally obvious to every forum dweller here ...

And let's not forget forget, we didn't choose that messaging, AMD itself did:
Lisa Su said:
Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT are both aimed toward the middle of the graphics card market, and Su said that both would bring "high-quality gaming to mainstream players."
And a lot of other quotes from both their graphics division lead and Frank Azor, @coercitiv already brought out previously in this thread.

So RX 7900 XTX was a nice middle-market mainstream card ?!?

I was going to ask for last minute guesses. I'm sticking with $550/650. There are some people out there (one who claims it's confirmed) that the 9070 XT will be $550. Despite the fact there is a slide out there saying "85% of games by GPU's under $700". That means it will be $600 something. Reminds me of the people who believed the rumor that Zen 2 would sell at unrealistically low prices.

I get the feeling that price is not final yet but AMD could settle for a price around $620 for the XT & sub-500 for the non-xt
Makes sense to me when all of the AIB boards that will actually be available will trend towards $550/$650 anyway. And of course some $700 unicorns that are full on premium thermal pads, fancy fans, screens, ARGB and all that.

A $45 Thermalright CPU heatsink has a 2" IPS LCD now. It's gotta be coming for basically everything at that rate.
