With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

uh, nope.
Some reality to dash your delusions. When the Dow drops, the world follows.

uh, nope.
uh, yep. By far the most consuming per capita nation on the planet. Its not even close, and by logical comparison to other countries is wasteful to a reckless degree.

No.
Price/perf is a worthless metric for halo parts anyway.
Yeah. Projected sales based off of demand are why products are produced and marketed.

If, by any stretch of imagination, AMD comes out with both a good price for the 9070 XT and the volumes to make that price stick, if I see anyone complain that the 9070 is $50 too expensive relative to the XT... I will personally wield the two biggest trouts in Internet history and will bring painful justice to your virtual faces.

Now I'll go make myself some coffee.

I'll complain that 9070 is about $50 too expensive. Because it is. It's 7900XT/7700XT all over again.

Reportedly the 9070 is about 20-25% slower, but it's only about 10% less expensive, which means the 9070 has worse Perf/$ than the card above, AGAIN.

This is just stupid.

Is it stupid, or is it an effective way to steer sales towards the more expensive option?

Just recently they have done it twice for RDNA 3 cards, and after getting bad reviews relented shortly afterward and lowered the price.

So what exactly did it accomplish? If the card is only there to promote sales of the higher model, why lower the price soon after to price the lower model where it should have been in the first place.
