With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

I only managed to get the black mercury magair from amazon for $850. It's not due to arrive for 2 weeks so I'm on the fence about canceling it, that's kind of an absurd level of markup to me.

4pln=1$ ~2999pln msrp with tax
Taichi 3599pln on release 3799pln (i bought) 4050pln (1min after i bought) 3899pln (NOW) xD

Thats wierd I had the same experience on NE.
I bought mine for 709, and a few seconds later it was 779.
An hour later it was back to 709.

IMO, that is an absurd markup. Thats a 41% increase from the $599 MSRP. Sure, its got the top heatsink and fans, but are they worth an extra $250 over the standard XT heatsink and fans?? I dont think so. Im of the line of thought that buying at these prices sends a signal that these prices are OK, and they're not.

That's my point. I spent the first 3-4 hours of the day, starting before listings went live (and I had access to all the delisted and hidden listings) to buy a $599 card. Never happened, they vaporized the instant they went live.

After that I decided to try for any card, and this is the only card I was able to buy, and it took all day (12 hours) to snag it. And it's the single most expensive, marked up model on the market.

I think I'm cancelling it.

Does AMD allow forcing native resolution when using FSR4? If not, then that's rather disappointing since I doubt that every FSR3.1 game out there supports native resolution rendering.

The real-time price increases are hilarious. They set a price and if the product actually starts selling, they immediately increase it, lol. The crypto thing and Covid really exposed gamers' lunatic buying behavior and willingness to just trebuchet launch pallets of money at scalpers for a GPU. They know lunatic gamers will absolutely panic buy every time at whatever crazy price, so they charge it. Go figure. I tried to express my feelings through the power of AI image generation, but I'm not sure it turned out so well.

Kinda a side whats the best most trust worthy driver cleaner?
Since Im going from Green to Red I want to make it as pristine as possible.
You can, but know you can just uninstall from the "remove a program" and millions of laptops and desktops have the AMD and nvidia drivers living side by side so its not as life or death as it was in the past.

My part tester PC here has both drivers installed full time and I swap between AMD and nvidia GPUs in it regularly without issues thus far.

Thanks, sure do know! But in the past I had issues going to red from green until I used a separate util.
So just going to as a precaution.

Maybe, just maybe, AMD is serious about marketshare gains as a goal and have no intention of wasting this opportunity. AMD proclaims policy to AIBs who then threaten retail with possible future supply issues. A mafia move.

AMD doesn't have enough board partners. Can they really strong arm any of them if they aren't making the right product mix or selling them to retailers at the right price?

I have my doubts.
It's not the AIBs that need reining in, it's retail. AIBs can certainly pressure retail, especially if all are following AMD's directives. AMD doesn't mind expensive cards, they just seem to want a certain percentage at MSRP.
