With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

The problem what is model vs 5060ti(4070perf), AMD can't left big gap between 7700XT and 9070nonXT

A 5060Ti with 16GB of Vram is arguably a better balanced part than the 5070 so NV will be in a pricing bind, any lower than $500 and it becomes the clear better card and makes the 5070 even more pointless. The Indiana Jones comparison will bury the 5070.

A $330 9060 XT 16GB with 7700XT tier performance will do well and be clearly superior to the 8GB 5060 and 8GB 5060Ti.

We also know the 9070 will drift down towards $475 over the next 9 or so months so by the time the 5060Ti 16GB is in stock it might be priced more in line with the 9070 than in the gap which just will be a very 1 sided matchup.

As for what AMD will offer at $400, nothing, NV won't have a good part there because the 16GB 5060Ti will be more than that and the 8GB will flat out be an awful part.

Given poor supply NV would be far better off delaying 5060 and 5060Ti parts and just wait until 3GB memory is more readily available and release 12GB 5060 and 5060Ti.

Everything is halved, and then some.
If its on 4nm, this is good. It should enable the $249-$279 price point while hopefully maintaining 6700XT+ perf. I think 16GB is a mistake, 12GB makes much more sense to keep costs down, and the card wont have the chops to do proper 4K anyway, so what good is 16GB going to be over 12?

In any case, I think anyone expecting RX 6800 perf is going to be very disappointed. At least in terms of raster.

-Yeah if it's really a gaming chip built on the cheap, jetison all the video encoders etc and just keep it lean, mean, and clocked to the teeth.

Offer good gaming performance for a good MSRP and people will overlook a lot.

One upshot of this market is that gamers seem to have remembered that they buy video cards to play games, not decode/stream/encode/noise cancelling/AI assist/etc.

Give people a good price and they will buy.

Sorry, but why do you think 9600XT 16GB would cost only $329?
Both RX 9070(XT) have $100 higher MRSP than 7700XT or 7800XT at launch, so there is no way AMD would price It at the same price as 7600XT.

I would assume it will be a decent amount more than the original MSRP of the 7600 / XT (which was $269 and $329)
Exactly. You get higher performance both in raster and even more in RT, better features etc. There is no way AMD won't increase the price.

This doesn’t make sense. If the 9060 XT is 128-bit and performs similarly to the 7700 XT, then which card is replacing the performance tier of the 7800 XT? The gap between the 9070 and 9060 XT is way too large.

$350 if it matches raster of 6800
Else $330 (same as 7600xt 16gb)
It wont. Now that Adroc (assuming hes correct) has said half of everything and less-- I'd be willing to bet the best we'll see is 6700XT +10% raster, a bit better than that RT. <180mm die, 3.1 GHz, fast and cheap. Now the insistence of slapping 16GB on there is a mistake, IMO. That could push price north of $300 for absolutely zero benefit to the gamer.
