My Dell estimated ship date *WAS* like April 23, but those bastards shipped it like a week early (I couldn't cancel even though I saw this deal).

I don't see any reason you should blame Dell.com if they processed you order more efficiently.

Hmmm... No one ever thanks the person/people that host the scans or the people/person that actually saved the files to create the scan/cache page. (And in this case it's the same person )

It is sad when a company thinks they can just send you an email 5 days after you make a purchase and change their price to whatever they want. Then tell you "we are sorry we have incompetant employees pricing our site", but looky here -- we have some legal mumbo jumbo to cover us for their incompetance.

I called their 800 number (1-800-201-7575) to cancel and decided to give'm an earful. Didn't really help, but at least I probably ruined the CSR's day. At least I got some satisfaction out of it.

think of it this way, don't be mad at amazon because they have yet to post a profitable quarter (yep the most recent quarter still a loss yet their stock jumps 20%)

they cannot afford to sell you the item below cost otherwise they will lose more money and then go out of business sooner. and then there will be no more amazon! (is that a bad thing?!)

after all, if you ran a quik-e-mart and your dumb employee who just got out of jail mispriced everything with a label gun, u wouldnt sell everything at a loss would u? u'd fire the dude and hope he doesnt rob u and then reprice everything yourself

jeff bozos hehe couldnt resist

Amazon probably isn?t turning a profit, because Jeff Bozo?s and his entourage are being paid million (or billions) a year. It wouldn?t really break my heart any if they went bust. Someone else will always be there to take their place.

Also, I say if they fire the dumb@ss who priced it wrong. They could use his salary to absorb the cost.

"LOS ANGELES, January 22, 2002 -- Amazon, the Seattle-based e-retailer,
reported on Tuesday net income of 5 million U.S. dollars for its fourth quarter,
the first-ever profit since its launching in 1995."

I'm surprised they took so long to kill it, but yep, I was given the gracious offer to buy it for $49.99.

Oh well, on to the next deal.

Yep, got the same email from Amazon. :| Don't understand why it took so long, for a minute or two, I thought they decided to eat the loss this time.

Anyway, it's a good thing my order from Dell came through, so at least I'll have it for $16 (if the rebate works as every post here says).

Fudge! Amazon is asking me to pay more for the Dazzle reader so they can afford their high priced CEo. :disgust:

MoshiMoro, since it appears that Parago has removed the rebate from rebatesHQ.com ("01-45025 Is An Invalid Promotion Code"), care to share the info you collected confirming the extension of this rebate to 31 June? Thanks for being the "careful freak."

Posted By: MoshiMoro (Junior Member)
Being the careful freak that I am, I just ordered from dell, and printed the amazon price to PM with AMEX. You save on shipping (if you order from Amazon) and tax (if you go to CC B&M).

FYI: I also called dazzle, and the CS confirmed that the rebate was indeed extended to June 31, 2002. I wrote down his ID and everything, incase I encounter problems. He said, they were not planning to update the rebate form, but you could still use the one that says Feb 28, 2002 from their website. Never used hq, so decided to go the ancient, mail-in rebate route.

I have never seen a rebate pulled before the last purchase date occurs. It's time to raise a little hell.

I sure hope one of you saved that rebate form (I pulled it up several times, but never saved it...Doh!).
If so please send me a copy or send it to someone that can host it for us. THANKS!
I don't think I'll send it back to Dell, even without the rebate. I could really use it, so I guess I'll eat it if the rebate is no good.

Wasn't meant to be funny. This was a legitimate news story a couple months back.

I know it wasn't meant to be funny but it is still funny. What passes for legitimate financial news stories are a joke. The wire services regurgitate press releases put out by the companies themselves. And then a stamp of approval is put on the earnings report by a financial auditor(can you say Arthur Anderson). Theres no fact checking. Its part of what made the whole Enron fiasco possible. Sorry, I am way off topic......
