Distributed Computing guys, I need your help! Actually two very special people need your help, Jennifer and her son Reed.

I'm sorry to impose "off-topic" on you guys like this, but these folks need help FAST, and this is the best way I have of getting in touch with all my online friends in a hurry!

Jennifer has to move to Colorado on December 30th. She is fighting a legal battle to gain the right to take her son with her. This battle has been raging for some three years at a cost of over $30,000 dollars to her personally. She has depleted every possible asset she has. On Tuesday morning, she has to appear in court to present final evidentiary and arguements to FINALLY secure a ruling to allow she and her son to stay together. But her lawyer will not argue the case unless he is paid $1000.00 on her account.


If she doesn't have representation, she WILL lose... I've spent a great deal of time talking with her, and this is truly a worthy cause. I am personally putting in all I can to help her.

If she loses, she will have to leave her son behind... she has no other option!

You guys have always been so great to me, and I hate to ask, but I need you guys to do me a favor:

Go HERE and contribute to this worthy cause. I've set the minimum at a mere $5.00, but feel free to increase the quantity to whatever you feel is appropriate.

I will be taking these contributions until Monday (12/11/00) at 5:00PM PST. Then I will combine them all and make a Western union transfer to Jennifer for the entire amount, so that she can have the cash available Tuesday morning.

I know this is unusual, but I'm on a serious time crunch, and I just have to help these guys out. Will you help them too?

I'd like to help. I have never set up a paypal account. Do I need a credit card to do so? I know I can give the "referal" cash thing....any chance you could help me figure out what to do to get some 5-10 bucks to you? BTW - I have no CC....

It's not PayPal.... I set up a special contribution "product" on The Cooling Store (hidden link only available below). You simply "order" via credit card whatever you wish to give (min $5.00).

I'm going to take out a cash advance on my personal CC and send Jennifer a Western Union transfer on Monday night or Tuesday morning...

Unfortunately, in this short time crunch, I can't think of any other way but a credit card.

I'm even eating a $75.00 transfer fee to make it fast enough to get it there on time.

That really sucks that she has had to spend that much money to stay with her son.

But I speak as a father who is in the process of preventing my son's mother from having custody (I am supporting his mothers grandmother for custody) &amp; disappearing off to the other end of the country knowing that he would be poorly looked after by her and would never get to see us again.(She has said that in the recent past).
Obviously I know little about Jennifers situation ,but how do I know the son is not being far removed from a caring(?) father?
You can see why I'm uneasy about this (though I would like to help).Your thoughts?
