Reading Music CDs

There are certain CDs that my cd drive can't read, like the homeworld soundtrack and the final fantasy sound track. When I open the cd directory, it doesn't show any CD tracks.

Is there any way to listen to these on a PC?

Two questions - (i) do the CDs that you are trying to play have both data and music on them? (ii) When you say you "open the CD directory" do you mean you're opening them in Winamp or Explorer and are trying to find .CDA files?

If you say yes to both questions then I can easily answer your question - use a CD player like the built-in CD player in Windows. It will recognize all the tracks on your CD, but don't play Track 1 because that's the track where all the data is stored.

Nope, there are no music tracks. In fact, it says that the cd has only used 20mb. I tried using a cd player program, but to no avail.

Which final fantasy? PC, PSX? I have 7 and 8 for PC sitting here, I couldn't get either them or Homeworld to play in a stereo, either, so why are you thinking there are music tracks? Are you talking about bonus sound track discs or the game discs?

Homeworld has a HW_Music.wxd file that's 100mb on it, where I assume the music is stored, so unless you have a special edition or something, I don't know what you're talking about, because it's not redbook audio like say, Mechwarrior 2 had.
