I am new to building PCs but wanted to try it out. I am wondering if these parts will all work together properly and any tips on items I may be missing, like fans? cables? special tools?

Case: Antec 900 or P180B
CPU: Intel Core 2 Due 6420
Heatsink: Thermalright Ultra 120 Xtreme
Thermal Compound: Artic Cooling MX-1
Mobo: Gigabye DS3 Rev 3.3
Memory: 2GB (2x1GB) OCZ PC8500 **
Harddrive: Seagate 400GB 7200.10 ULTRA ATA **
Videocard: Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB
PSU: Corsair 620HX 620W **
DVD: SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner w/ LightScribe
Total cost: $1150 (AR)

I starred the areas grey to me.
Is that good memory to OC? it has 5-5-5-15 timings and Micron D9 chips. I want to OC this to 3.2 hopefully.
The harddrive was a steal I figured, it was around $90. But I ordered and got it and just realized its Ultra ATA! Whats that? I googled the model number, ST3400620A, not AS. I have no clue if that matters, but will it work with the Gigabyte DS3?
The PSU, I have no much info on it but was referenced to Jonnyguru.com and it seemed good but I don't understand the forum post stickied "Recommended Sub-$150, high-efficiency PSU's " that states '...Claims to have three +12V rails, but actually only has one (50A); Suitable for SLI and Crossfire (not necessarily G80 or R600 and up)'
So it doesn't have three +12V rails? and it won't be able to handle two 8800 GTSs??

Also do I need to order any fans or cables? I was under the impression it came with the stuff. Do I need to buy one of those PC tool kits? If not what items do I need for a new build? Phillips head screw driver? Grounded cable for my wrists?

Thanks in advance for helping a wet behind the ear noob like me!

I am no expert in memory but I know that a) Micron D9 are reputable for good overclocks and b) probably forum members can suggest you RAM with micron D9s for cheaper (post prices when listing parts).

HDD will work, but that's a drive with wide PATA cable (Parallel ATA) that has 80 wires glued together...should have gotten SATA for sleek, thin cables and improved airflow inside case.

Don't know about PSU, but in my opinion, SLI/Crossfire is a waste of $$. For example, single 8800 GTS probably beats two 7800GS in SLI. There has been lots of discussion about this, and I don't have benches to prove my point (8800GTS >> 2x7800GS).
But I would think the PSU will easily handle two 8800GTS, who cares how many rails, the total amperage is ample (pardon the pun).

Don't buy cables, they come with mobo. DO NOT assemble the PC on carpet or other highly static surface. Probably you need a Phillips screwdriver and that's all. As far as I know, grounding with a wrist cable won't do jack if the PSU is not installed in case and plugged in the wall (with switch at OFF). Grounding is provided like this: you > cable > case > psu > wall > Earth.

With these high end cases I'm sure you don't need to buy more fans.

Is the Burner SATA?

I think 650 watts should be enough to run two 8800 GTS.

If you read JonnyGuru's site, I think the PSU has one main 12V rail that's divided into three and each has a limiter. Or something like that.

You'll probably only need a Phillips screwdriver for assembly.

I never use a wrist strap. I don't work in a carpeted area, and I also touch a furnace vent before I start just to makes sure I don't have a charge. If you use a wrist strap, connect it to something you know is grounded like pipes, heater, vents, etc. If you get one they should come with instructions.

Read your motherboard instruction book. They occasionally have some useful info.

yeh the burner is a SATA drive.

AFAIK the DS3 rev 3.3 has 1 IDE and 4 SATA connections.
Also the 3.3 board supports the 1333mhz FSB on the newer intel chips in the future.

Thanks for the tips on the tools.

Gigabyte GA-965P DS3 (LGA 775) 125.00
Antec Nine-Hundred Case 80.00
Intel Core 2 Duo 6420 2.13GHz 4MB CPU 195.00
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme Heatsink 72.00
Artic Cooling MX-1 Thermal Paste 9.00
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) 1066FSB PC8500 Memory 190.00 (20.00) MIR
**Now it's $140 AR... makes me a said panda
Seagate 400GB 7200.10 Harddrive 100.00
SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner w/ LightScribe 39.00
Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB Video Card 195.00 (25.00) MIR
Corsair 620HX 620W Power Supply Unit 145.00 (20.00) MIR

Are those prices good? The extra $30 I could have saved if I waited 1 week on the ram could have got me a E6600 but I heard the latest batches have had mixed OC results.
