I got some cool chips recently too. $120 shipped for 1000 of a fairly unique design. I've only seen 2 other sellers on ebay selling them & now another with a rip off on the design. They are a little less tinny in the sound, have the denomination printed on them, and everyone that has seen them have liked them. My only beef is that you can tell it's a laser cut sticker placed in the middle of the chip. Some chips have this gap about the size of a hair where it's sitting out of round in the middle of the chip. That sticker will never wear & you could drop these in a beer & it wouldn't matter.

i've seen these at the swap meet for about the same price--good find. that is the other problem with all clay chips: you cannot get them wet. the clay composites you can put in a washing machine. clay you must clean by hand =(

These aren't real casino chips, and are actually way more expensive than a real set.

These are 10.5 gram pure clay chips.

Casinos use 11.5 gram clay composite chips, which can be had on Ebay for much less than 300 bones.

not true. next time you are in a casino, listen to the way the chips sound as you drop them to the table. in the casino it will not be as tinny as the 11.5 g clay composite sets. that clank is the metal/plastic inside of it. casinos use pure clay chips that have the sexy "pot splash" sound and have better grip, for chip tricks and things.

personally, most people should just get 11.5g set. the 13g chips are made heavier to compensate for the fact they contain composite material, to try and give it a good sound. but they are too heavy and still don't "feel right." the 11.5g are "good enough" for most people and will last forever.

i purchased a very nice hold 'em table for home and wanted to have nice, high quality chips to complement them, for when i host poker night. it is not worth it to buy these if you are just an occassional player. also online is pokerchips.com, but i was told that it would 12 weeks for them to complete my order. i placed my order sat night and they have already shipped out and it should arrive tomorrow. they were also nice enough to substitute black chips instead of yellow ones that originally come with the set. i will let you guys know what i think of them once they arrive.

I've talked to several casino dealers on the matter, they all say the same thing that pure clay chips are no longer used and that all casinos use clay composite chips now.

Actually, there is a bit of a misunderstanding going on here. Casinos do use clay composite chips, or resin chips, depending on the manufacturer. Paulson chips are about the only big casino supplier that still uses clay composite material. Chipco and most other big manufacturers have gone to a resin material. Typical weights for true casino chips are 8.5-10 grams. The 11.5 "clay" composite chips that are all over ebay have no clay in them whatsoever. They are a plastic resin with a metal insert to give them weight. They are cheaply made, and cheap to get. That being said, I have 2450 of them for my home poker games and couldn't be happier with them. Yes, it would be nice to have some Paulsons or Chipcos from Pokerchips.com, but for the price I paid for mine, I would have only gotten about 200 chips. The cheapo chips should be good enough for all but the most discerning home player.

Bump for the overstock deal...seems like a nice deal with decent chips. What do you experts think?

 Wow, buy poker chips at face value? You's a high rolla if I ever saw one!

Uhh yeah then when you get tired of using them you can get every penny you paid for them back, yeah that seems very logical to me.
