Good lord people, how many of you are "pros" here who play at home on a daily basis? I severely doubt most people are gonna notice the big difference between 10.5 grams and 11.5 grams. Also, I doubt anybody will care if they're "real" clay or composite. All these ridiculously expensive chips do is cut into your poker winnings. Do yourself a favor, buy a quality set of chips from ebay (500 for like 50 or 60 shipped) and call it a day. you'll be much more thankful later when you realize it doesn't really matter what your chips are made of so long as they're not cheap plastic.

What a rip off. I got my 11.5g 500 chip set for around $65. That's including shipping and handling.

And, once we're finished with this poker fad... the chips will drop down to $20 per set of 500.

Quality wise...those chips don't look like casino-grade chips worth $300...may only be worth half of what they're advertising. I've seen a lot of nicer looking sets for less than $200.

All those other sets that people talk about getting for $50 are fine for the enjoyment of the game. But you can't compare those sets to casino grade sets. For those interested in quality and want casino grade, expect to pay at least $300 for a nice set of 10g chips w/inlaids, molds, and edge spots. Those people seeking quality will be willing to pay for it.

If you are an on-line player, or are considering playing on-line, PM me for a good deal on chips.

Casino chips aren't made of clay anymore. They're far too brittle for everyday use.
Most casino chips are between 10-11 grams, but it's totally up to the casino as far as what they want.

500 chips for $300 is a rip off. I got a very similar set of 1200 chips for about $289.

These aren't real casino chips, and are actually way more expensive than a real set.

These are 10.5 gram pure clay chips.

Casinos use 11.5 gram clay composite chips, which can be had on Ebay for much less than 300 bones.

I just got a pretty decent set o' Pocker chips at Wal-Mart yestday. Comes with a nice aluminum case.

The chips are 11.5 ounces, so pretty decent weight.

Originally $50 bucks, but were $6.50 on clearance. YMMV

Which browser are you using? I've looked at my post with several different browsers and can't seem to find a referral link. I'm sure there's one in there somewhere, but I just can't find it...

Thanks for the info.

Here is what he was referring to...
If you are an on-line player, or are considering playing on-line, PM me for a good deal on chips.

Why not just state the deal? It appears at this moment that it's some kind of referral system or bonus from you.

My brother got this same set, except with chip values printed on them, from a poker chip reseller here in Houston for $125. $306 is insane.

If you ask me, it seems as though Solleyman was trying to make a joke, for if you play poker on-line, you don't really need a set of chips. At least thats how i saw what he was saying.

not true. next time you are in a casino, listen to the way the chips sound as you drop them to the table. in the casino it will not be as tinny as the 11.5 g clay composite sets. that clank is the metal/plastic inside of it. casinos use pure clay chips that have the sexy "pot splash" sound and have better grip, for chip tricks and things.

personally, most people should just get 11.5g set. the 13g chips are made heavier to compensate for the fact they contain composite material, to try and give it a good sound. but they are too heavy and still don't "feel right." the 11.5g are "good enough" for most people and will last forever.

i purchased a very nice hold 'em table for home and wanted to have nice, high quality chips to complement them, for when i host poker night. it is not worth it to buy these if you are just an occassional player. also online is pokerchips.com, but i was told that it would 12 weeks for them to complete my order. i placed my order sat night and they have already shipped out and it should arrive tomorrow. they were also nice enough to substitute black chips instead of yellow ones that originally come with the set. i will let you guys know what i think of them once they arrive.

I am trying to figure out why you would need chips for on-line play

ok, my chips arrived yesterday but i had to take my mom to the hospital, so i was not able to open them until today. here are my impressions:

excellent customer service of order. they did a great job getting the order out the next business day, swapping the chips out to the color of my choice, and packaging was good.

now, the chips themselves are impressive. if you don't play poker a whole lot, you would not really notice the difference, but these are top notch. right weight, right grip, right sound. really quality stuff.

is it worth it? it depends. the only other place i have found that sells real clay is PokerChips.com. they do not have online ordering and their stuff takes 12 weeks. this was fast but it is not custom. all i know is: poker at my house this friday! =)

I got the 500 chip set for free a while back. Very nice set. I really like the plastic playing cards. They don't need to broken in/wear out like paper ones.

Here's the FW thread on the deal I got. There was also an AT thread, but I couldn't find it since the new search engine doesn't seem to work with the archived msgs. The best part about it is that I got the set for just signing up! I never had to bet a cent!
