I listen to all hip hop including people that brag about rims, etc blah blah blah. As long as the beat is good and the flow is decent I'm a fan.

For some underground ish check out the crew Hieroglyphics and their songs; Halo, Fantasy Island & Soweto...Del the Funkee Homosapien is a part of that group with some of his hits - At the Helm, Mastermind, etc

'nuff said

Wayne sucks, he has a few decent lines here and there but overall he's horrible. HIs punchlines are corny as hell

"I know the games crazy, it's mo crazy than it's ever been/I'm married to that crazy bitch, call me Kevin Federline" lame and doesn't even rhyme

"Everyone know cheaters never get crowned/I play fair like rollacoasters and clowns" some other song he did, retarded as hell. His metaphors and punchlines are mostly embarrassing, I think only Paul Wall has more weak punchlines - nobody can top Paul's "I'm hot like warm piss" lol.

dude has like 1 good line out of every 100 and acts like he's the all time greatest.

Dont have youtube at work...but if you're talking about lil wayne...he's absolute garbage. I don't even believe he goes around thinking he's the greatest of all time. Theres a few good artists out now...Talib, Jurassic 5, Aesop, Afu Ra. Ever since the south got big...its sucked. I don't think things will ever go back to the days of hip hop where we had artists like Biggie, Tupac, Nas, Bone Thugz, Dre....

It features someone called Masta Ace.

That "someone" is a legend and with ease one of the best and most consistent emcees ever. Ace has been rapping since 86 when he was down with the Juice Crew. In the mid 90's he even blew up with a commercial song.

+1 Masta Ace!

Another SICK Masta Ace - Good Ole Love

Marco Polo is a producer and this is on some sort of complication he put out with a bunch of dudes on it.

I love inadvertently demonstrating my own ignorance

Oh well. I don't really listen to rap or hip hop much.

I'm a fan of NY hip hop, but was never a fan of Papoose. Ghostface is nice, but something about his voice bothers me. GZA's flow and lyrics are sick though.

Those are a few more recent ones I like

Plus all of the old school stuff that is too numerous to mention (Tribe, De La, BDP, etc, etc...)

There is a tonne of good stuff out there, you just need to look/ask. There is a thread here that lists some good stuff: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=38&threadid=2021819.

Underground Hip-hop ftw.

I only heard of the dude last year when I heard Got Up This Morning and I was blown away. Along with Lupe Fiasco, two of the best lyricists of their generation IMO. The Cool. There oughta be a law against using that many metaphors in one song.

Oh, and let's not forget about Sol.illaquists of Sound. Almost too much soul for 4 individuals to contain. Best clip I could find: Text

best. live. show. last time i saw them though was at rock the bells. but ive seen them a bunch of times also. in fact my best friend got one of ?uest's drum sticks and i shot the shit with kamal and hub after the show. dudes touring schedule is insane though, i sometimes wonder how they even find time to record.

It's funny how so many of the bands who aren't about the bling, drugs and money side of rap can only find one other thing to rap about, that being the "industry" and how all these other fools and posers are ruining it. They're still talking about hip hop, and they're still just as self absorbed as any of the others if that's ALL they can come up with for material. Rapping about rap round and round. Come up with something NEW please. It's every bit as bad as the rock & rollers' thousands of songs about rock and roll.
